This was on sale with a discount of $7.50. The bowl is made of sturdy, hard plastic. The electrical cord has a nice coil of metal around it for protection from animals chewing on it. The water stays warm enough that it doesn't freeze in cold temperatures.

I bought this water bowl for my neighborhood ferral cats and temps have been at -1 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit at night and teens in the day..so far the water has not frozen and I just took a peek and water is good..so far very happy with it and I guarantee so are the cats.😁

I really like this heated pet dish. I bought it to water the birds I feed in winter. It uses only 25watts electric and keeps the water just above freezing. There isn't a lot of evaporation which I had in heated bird baths. Much cheaper to use and I don't refill often. I was concerned about the birds getting water in winter so this is great. Very, very pleased. (I think the squirrels and rabbits sneak in and drink too.)

It was the perfect size to provide water for the stray cats in the area and when the weather was below 0 it kept the water thawed nicely.

Wanted a way to make sure wildlife and neighborhood animals (have a colony of semi-feral cats outside due to a negligent neighbor that I now TNR and manage) had clean drinking water in the colder months. Pros: -Keeps water from freezing -Used for an entire winter, didn't set my house on fire. -Convenient price and size -Protected Cable Cons: -Does not even hold a full water bottle -Water evaporates or is used up VERY fast -Fairly short cable This price is very economical and since I already have it I will likely be using it for a couple of seasons but for anyone looking to purchase I would highly advise getting a larger size as this bowl does not hold enough water for much of anything. Item itself is decent size but that is mostly the plastic and heating element, holds like NO water.

It worked for two days or perhaps the weather wasn't quite cold enough, since today the water was completely frozen.
