This product only spans about 10 inches. My kitchen double sink requires 11.5 or 12 inch flex tube. Even going to household stores finding suitable length tubes with the proper end shape (flange) to seal to the disposal unit and have a flexible section to allow matching attachment levels does not exist. You end up with a hodgepodge solution! It would be nice if the manufacture sell this length (8-10 inch) and add a new kit with longer flex tube (say 9 - 13). Any tube that is too long can be cut to fit a shorter connection situation. You can't add more on without making a real amateur solution. Cheers JR
This product needs to exist for situations that do not allow for a hard connection. Otherwise, I would't use it. It's primary fault is the mating of the red flange with the lip of the tube. In order to slip the flange over the lip, the lip is made too small for the flange to easily hold it in place evenly against the rubber washer. It took several attempts to position the lip, adjusting it as I tightened the bolts, to get it centered on the gasket so the lip didn't pop out of the flange. Less than a millimeter either way was the difference between a leak and no leak. Not an easy task when you are on your back beneath a small space under the sink.
I have the same question as previous customer.... how does gasket get over the larger tube? Hard to figure without photos!
Gasket will not fit over flanged 1 1/2 flexible tube. No instructions on package nor on website. Expensive for the little bit of material.
This item is a complete piece of junk. I'd give it ZERO stars if that were an option. No directions. Not even a diagram to refer to. Poor design. Doesn't work with standard installation. Do yourself a favor and get a piece of PVC — which will probably be too long, but cutting it down with a fine-toothed hacksaw will be much easier than jacking around with this piece of trash. Remember to pick up a few O-rings while you're at it. You'll need at least two. Here's an idea: The manufacturer should sell a replacement part that exactly matches the original. Better yet, they could build stuff to last in the first place. Oh yeah... Corporate Greed will prevent that from happening — at least until the consumer boycotts their shoddily constructed products. My boycott starts now
This part had much thinner plastic than one installed several years ago. The were no instructions or definition of parts. Even on relatively simple parts this - level of communications gives the consumer the understanding they are dealing with a thoughtful insinkerator company on not a generic possible made in china product. Even if you have to add a couple bucks to product I would not give away quality and reputation for bare bones costs
No directions how to put the metal flange and how to get it over the lip. It is taking too long and it is a major struggle for me to do this job. The tube that came with the disposal is too short. why dont you make that longer and if need to cut it to length. This is getting too much over my head and I feel like I need to get a plumber and bill you for the cost of one cause you do not have directions for your products. I am very disappointed in this WASTE OF MONEY. I am on a limit income and cant just toss my money away. Put Videos on your site or put directions with the product.. Like putting a square peg into a circle.
They give you the metal bracket, 2 rubber washers, and the flexible tube - with no instructions. I've seen multiple reviews with everyone stating this, these people have received responses from customer service and there still isn't any instructions or video created. I was unable to use the two washers and kept the existing. I was also unable to use the bracket because the tube kept popping out (again had to use the existing, which required pliers to get the tube in). Either the tube was too small or the hole on the new bracket is too large. After all this the tube was too small to attach to the other sinks pipe. An installation video needs to be created or don't buy!!
A drawing or diagram would have been minimal. Instructions are necessary. Even a youtube video would be great.
I installed it, and immediately saw what other reviewers meant when they said the hole in the flange is too big. The discharge tube popped right through the flange hole when it was tightened. I used the original flange that came with the insinkerator, since it had a smaller diameter hole. It was a fight to get it over the lip of the tube and it came out worse for wear, but it's literally the only option to make this piece functional. I understand why they made it this way - the corrugations mean that the flange can't slip on from the back side of the tube, so wrestling it over the lip is the only option and hence the larger diameter hole - but it makes it worthless. They should provide a flange of the same spec as the original and just tell the consumer they're going to have to use some muscle.
