Great Value Rice (%26 Corn) Chex cereals are As yummy, crispy, %26 functional as any name-brand on the shelf…just a different recipe. In a bowl of milk, or, in ‘Texas Trash', I've used them for Years,,,with NO disappointments!! Yes, I Recommend them!
For years, my mother has remained a steadfast customer of Great Value Rice Squares, always appreciating the budget-friendly price tag in comparison to the higher-priced, more advertised brands on the market. However, the appeal extends far beyond just the affordability; we've consistently been impressed with the cereal's enduring quality. It delivers an enjoyable crunch and a truly satisfying taste that keeps us coming back. Additionally, the 12-ounce package size is ideal for our family – it offers a generous quantity without being excessively large, making it a practical and convenient choice for our daily breakfasts.
We have had cereal most mornings for quite a while, but we're tiring of wheat, oat and corn-based cereals. The Rice Squares have been a welcome change. They are light, especially fresh and crunchy and just delicious. They are quieter than Rice Crispies and more satisfying. Oh, and they are fortified with the vitamins we all need. I strongly recommend Great Value Rice Squares for a healthful, delicious and easy-to-digest breakfast.
I use these crisp rice cereals to make either Muddy Buddies or Toffee Crunch. They are so delicious this way. Always at Christmas time, but occasionally I make throughout the year. They are very crispy and stay very crunchy even after pouring hot toffee caramel over them, then baking in oven. Great product.
I was pricing the name brands I normally buy and thought why not try Great Value cereals. One in particular that I used to buy was almost 5.00 for a box that wouldn't last a week in my house. I had to give up the wheat side of that cereal but these rice squares are good. I like to put honey in with them instead of sugar. I think if we all start skipping the high priced cereals it will send a message to those companies.
If you ever have or know someone with a wheat allergy it's good to know there are wheat free alternatives like this on the shelves. It's a perfect breakfast serial, great for kids, eaten dry out of the box it's crunchy, soaked in Rice Milk for a bit it gets the perfect texture of softness without becoming completely soggy.
The Great Value Rice Squares are definitely a great value. Lately, I have seen some of the name brand cereals that were more than double the price of the Great Value cereals. I eat the cereal for breakfast, and I also eat it sometimes as a snack with peanut butter or nondairy yogurt. I like this cereal better than the name brand Rice Squares because the pieces are bigger. The texture of the pieces is crunchier than the name brand product which means that they will maintain their shape and size longer when you add milk or a topping. I like the taste of the Great Value cereal better too because it's a slightly bolder flavor without being too overpowering.
I am celiac and vegan, lactose intolerant and allergic to oats. These are gluten free, no oats, no dairy. I consume cases of these for snack food to buffer my stomach from medications that I take. As a dry food they are good for snacking. Every different brand of these tastes a little different, I find this brand my favorite for flavor, mouth feel and how it softens in the mouth without scratching my gums and tongue up. Affordable, it is about 90c a box cheaper (at the time I write this,7-2026) than the nearest generic. It is ten boxes to the case, but the best by date is well out there, no problem with stale cereal. I have gotten out of eating cereal with a milk substitute, so I can't comment about that, how it softens and tastes and mouth feel for that. By how it softens in my mouth when eating it dry, it might sog. Flavor is so mild, it would readily take flavor from fruit or sugar added ( try a light amount of dark brown sugar instead of white). Calories aren't bad either. Moderate carbs, some added sugar and salt for a bit of flavor, it doesn't taste like you're eating paste. Sodium is moderate. Fortified with various things. A little bit of magnesium, women need magnesium. And some zinc, men need zinc. Does not say that it has GMO ingredients. A few supplied recipes to make snack mixes on the back of the box. Sound good, but both call for ingredients I can't have. Cheaper than the big brand name, great way to buy this type of cereal in bulk. I recommend this cereal. (Hint, once opened, fold over the top of the bag and clip it with a chip-clip to keep it fresh)
This breakfast cereal stays crunchy and has a great taste. I also use these to make a snack (nutty buddies) which make a great snack and stay fresh in a closed container for a long time. One of my favorite snacks.
Fairly comparative to name brand Rice "squares" and they're much lower cost. I get these from time to time, add some sliced banana or strawberry or blueberry. Good breakfast, or for a quick snack.
