I think it saves water the 5 gallon bucket I put 5 of these in lasts 4 or 5 days with 23 hens.

Good in temperate climates
I needed these to train my chickens to drink from a larger bucket. They didn't want to give up drinking from an open source, and wouldn't try the other type of nipple waterers. These were easy to install, don't appear to leak but they look like they may not work if the water in the cup freezes. I keep the watering buckets inside the chicken house, so they may be OK but you might want to plan an alternate water source in severely cold weather

4 were defective
6 of these were fine, but 4 of these were missing holes to allow the water to go through.

Not worth a red cent!
Cheaply made.. Only 2 out of ten actual do what they are supposed to.. I would NOT recommend this product!

Great idea but that's where the greatness ends.
Great idea but poor design or maybe its a quality issue but all 10 were useless. These could've been a great product but sadly the way they are designed there is not enough play in the springs to allow water to come out with easy. With that being a problem the flock could not get water to come out no matter how hard they tried. Even using my finger I had to hold the "activator" for a few seconds before any water would drip into the cups.

Looked like a good idea - not so much
Broilers knocked cups off constantly and often knocked nipple off - draining entire water supply. Chicks unable to move nipple to fill cups. Going to try horizontal nipples for next batch
