Not kid proof.
It's a good bike for the price but the electrical components didn't last a week with my 4 year old. There is a battery operated gauge attached to the handle that broke and I imagine it isn't very waterproof as well.

Safety
The bike comes with an already attached (very thin) chain guard. Ours was broken in two places. I know from when I was a child how important the chain guard is from experience.

Well he can ride it
The bike is usable. The reason we purchased this bike is because of the sound effects attachment on The Handlebar. Unfortunately it stopped working literally 2 minutes after we got home. I replace the batteries after I cleaned out the rust. You push the little button and the Sound Works. However when you twist the handle no sound. It's broke. You're supposed to be able to rev the engine via the handle. Very disappointed and we can't exchange it that was the last one.
