I wish ppl would learn the proper way to review items. Product reviews should focus on the item itself, rather than delivery/pickup, missing, or substitution item issues. Appropriate channels exist for addressing order fulfillment problems; this section is solely for evaluating product quality. About item: it's canned goods. I don't have any complaints. Seems to meet my family vegetables needs.

Pea Recipes

Evelyn November 15, 2025

These peas are great for a variety of recipes. Pea salad if you want to make a quick and easy side dish for supper. I use two cans and drain them well then put in a big mixing bowl. Add diced boiled eggs, I use about 4 or 5 or you can use to your liking. I add Hellman's mayo about a cup, then add some diced onion or onion powder, a little salt and pepper. Mix well and chill for an hour or two in the frig, make sure to cover the bowl. Tastes Great! Enjoy :) Cream Peas: Open 1 or 2 cans depending on how many you are feeding. Drain the peas well and set aside. Make a homemade milk gravy with butter, milk and flour. Once the milk gravy is done add your drained peas and mix well. Add a little salt and pepper and serve. This is served great with about any meal. Enjoy! :)

Very satisfactory for everyday meals, etc.

Shegun June 9, 2026

For convenience and price this is my standard to use for every day meals. You learn early that you barely want to heat these without boiling to maintain their texture and body. Besides mashed, boiled peas are kind of disgusting. I have had no problem opening the cans as I recall, but as a cautionary comment I have noticed on some of the cans that at times once you come around the lid my can opener objects to completing the circle, but with a few well placed bites made repeatedly at the stubborn spot gets it off. I have a plain meal type preference as far as vegetables go meaning I enjoy the taste of the vegetables so much that dosing them up with a lot of spices or sauces is just not pleasant. That doesn't mean that another person might have some delicious recipe I have not yet used. These go very well added to casseroles and macaroni side dishes or salads as long as you do not overcook them.

A Must Try Recipe Here! >>>

We love the Great Value sweet peas. We make cheesy peas at least once a week. They're so good. My mom used to make them when we were growing up. Here's how... Open a couple of cans of the GV sweet peas. Drain one and leave the juice in the second. Pour the peas into a microwave safe bowl. Add in a tablespoon of butter, a pinch of black pepper, and about a 2" slice of the Great Value Melt N Cheesy (Velveeta-like). Cut the cheese into smaller squares and put into the bowl with the peas. Microwave for about 2 minutes then stir. Microwave another minute and stir again. Repeat until peas are warm and cheese is melted. Makes the most delicious side dish. Sometimes we eat them just as they are with some butter bread. Give it a try, because Great Value sweet peas are nice-sized, sweet, and delicious. Better than most other brands. Give the cheesy peas a try too.

Good tasting peas. Recommended.

STEVEN June 13, 2026

Green peas are not one of my top five vegetables in a can. However, these peas have a good texture and a great taste. Better than canned peas I have had in the past (other brands). I will get these again! As I had them delivered to my house, a few showed up dented...

Ready to eat

Chris April 17, 2026

Incredible peas. I like this and the no salt added version. Taste just as good as fresh and frozen steam-able. I actually prefer the can. No bad taste. Can’t tell the difference. Ready to serve!

Better Than the Name Brand!

Sarah April 19, 2026

Since when did the cheap store brand have better tasting vegetables than the name brand? Not sure when that happened, but here we are! Had 1 can of name brand and 1 can of this so mixed them for a side to our family meal. The ones from Great Value were darker in color and sweeter in taste. So, now I know what I’m getting from now on!

A good economical choice for easy prep meals

Elizabeth July 6, 2026

A great economical choice for a good everyday product. I would purchase a higher level product if having guests, but excellent for home average meals. Not a petite pea, but a more mature pea selection. Comes salted and unsalted . The texture is average, as is the flavor, but both are acceptable. An easy to prepare and Good side dish. I sometimes add canned mushrooms as an enhancement.

The Gv peas were hard. Tried to cook them for longer period of time to soften them up to no avail. These peas were picked way to early and canned without being properly cooked. Carbon dioxide was definitely used to make these veggies look like they were ripe and ready for consumption. Ridiculous, that's on the buyer/purchaser at Wal-Mart corporate office Bentonville, AK. Do better. Sam would have.

Damaged goods

anonymous January 26, 2026

I am disabled and truly appreciate the fact that I can have the groceries delivered to my car! However, the last two times, canned goods have been dented significantly! There is no reason at all that if I have somebody shopping for me that they pull such poor products off the shelf and give them to me! I hope in the future, whoever is collecting the products that I have purchased for provides me with the best service by giving me products that are not in dented or flawed!
