There are a lot of generic tomato sauces out there, but this one is probably the most generic one I have ever had. No real flavor, except for tomato. When we used it, it was almost as if you could taste the tiny Guatemalan hands that squeezed the tomatoes to make this sauce. I savored the unscrupulous business practices that Wal-Mart has used over the years to make billions, and destroy millions of small businesses in the process. Hopefully, I will be lucky enough to become a greater at Wal Mart after I retire so that I can continue to enjoy generic products, just like this tomato sauce.
OK, I am pretty good at honest reviews, BUT what can I add to a can of tomato sauce? Sure its good but great? Well that's a matter of taste. Let's just say the taste is fine and the price is wonderful. Hey Walmart will deliver to your front door. Say, try a pair of RUGGED SHARKS clog shoes, $13.00. I bought 3 pair and I like them better than CROCS at $50.00. I know its about tomato sauce but you got to keep your feet covered.
I like to keep this tomato sauce on hand for many recipes. But my main use for tomato sauce is making my own pasta sauce. Since I live alone and have dietary restrictions, store bought sauce can be expensive and almost always goes to waste. With these small cans, I can make just enough sauce for a couple of servings (I toss in some seasonings and whatever strikes my fancy that day, such as olives, mushrooms, garlic and onions) with no leftovers or just enough left for a meal the next day. This is more economical for me than buying a large jar of sauce that will go bad in the fridge before I feel like having spaghetti again. The sauce has a good tomato flavor and serves as a base for many favorite recipes.
First time using canned tomato sauce, in decades, always made my own. Beautiful smell as soon as you open the can like homemade, nice red color, excellent flavor. Until I can more sauce, definitely will keep my pantry stocked. perfect for pastas, soups, or stews.
I've always liked Walmart's canned tomatoes. All of them are just as good as the name brand stuff. I also like that I can get it full salt or no salt. I like having the option. When I make dinner, I determine how much sodium I still need and decide from there which to use 🙂
These are great for adding tomato flavor to soups or small one pot meals. I love that I don't have to open a larger can and put the left over sauce in the fridge. There is another brand of tomato sauce that I like, but this is a close second, and I usually buy the Great Value brand sauce anyway.
Going to be home but I don't care it is very convenient to have around if you put one can of spaghetti sauce in your spaghetti and it's not like soupy enough then or Saucy enough then you just put one can of this tomato sauce in there and like a little bit of salt and pepper or your own seasonings and problem solved then you don't have to open up a whole nother can of spaghetti sauce or jar and then end up wasting half of it there is people all over the world that is without food so be thankful for what God blesses you with
I highly recommend this Great Value Tomato Sauce, allergy friendly-free of the 8 most common allergens,is diced vine-riped tomatoes are the go-to staple to put together a quick and delicious meal, quick and easy ingredients to add to slow cooker meals, slow simmered sauces, chili ,soups, stews, casseroles, pizza, meatloaf, enchiladas, salsas, spaghetti and rice, Great Value Canned Tomatoes Grown by family farmers. Great Value products provide families with affordable, high quality grocery and household consumable options. Let's just say the taste is wonderful and the price is excellent. It's delivers on its promises! I'm very happy with my purchase!
I got this tomato sauce to make English style toast and beans. Apparently their "baked beans," while baked, aren't actually seasoned like ours are which was frankly mind blowing. I decided the best bet was to mix navy beans with tomato sauce. In the end I added garlic, onion, and salt, put them on buttered toast, and it was surprisingly tasty. A bit mild but the subtleness of the flavor was pleasant. Next time I'll use tomato paste with half that can of water to see if it's not quite so runny.
As far as opinions goes, I guess my opinions would change based on the reason for use of product, which is something I should've previously stated, but thinking about that with this tomato sauce there are other tomato sauces that have compared to or better if we're comparing it two things that can be used for spaghetti sauce. Yeah there's still way better but for the value of the price and I like I used it for making homemade chili. I would say that this is exactly what I would go with again.
