I'm a southern boy that likes southern grits. I don't like sugar in them. I don't like cheese in them occasionally a little bit of sausage. Mostly salt, pepper butter, and a little hot sauce. These are always consistent and remind me of the grits my mom used to make. I had a spare recently when I went to the store and I couldn't find the round packaging of grit. I found them in a square box. This would not do, I have the same lid with the precise measurements written on it that my mom made 60 some odd years ago. I saw this and ordered enough for possibly the rest of my life. At least a good 10 years.
I am soooo sure I've reviewed these before, but whatever. I do luvs me some grits. These have good texture if you cook/nuke them right. Throw in butter, salt, pepper, a cooked egg, some meat, and you've got a really solid and yummy breakfast. You could prolly nuke the egg right with them, though I haven't tried. I call it my "grits bowl", and sometimes I have a mashed potato version with meat and veggies for lunch. These grits have been a staple of mine for years.
Readily cooks to creamy texture when following directions and lowering heat after filling product in boiling water. Tastes great and provides filling meal.
I love these grit I rinse them before I in a small bowl to get the extra starch off them, then stir them in boiling salted water and cook until done.then put them on my plate with butter and enjoy them with toast on the side
raised on cheese grits, I love them to this day. I don't eat them as much but when I get a grits craving stand by!!!! particularly on a cold, rainy day; grits with eggs and bacon sticks to your ribs. I know grits are not eaten by many northerner and I do suspect if you try them for the first time as an adult it may be an acquired texture but try it, it is so comforting!!!
Very good grits. They got four stars because they're not as good as the regular grits , but they don't take 20 or 25 minutes either. The trade off in taste for time saved is worth it to me, and I enjoy them.
I love these grits. They go great with breakfast or with fish. One thing is that if you want them to be smooth you need to cook them on low for longer than five minutes. They are also great with Sharp cheddar cheese.
I am normally very satisfied with this product, however, upon this delivery and attempting to put my groceries up, the top came off of the grits, which should have been sealed and was not, so the grit spilled all over the countertop my other groceries in the floor. It is as if the grits had been tampered with. Very disappointed.
Do not have it shipped! I received the item and every container was busted open and grits were everywhere. Had to return it since it was no longer going to be oantry safe from rodents/bugs.
I received the Quaker 5-minute GRITS as a Walmart substitute. If I'd have been quick enough, I would've stopped the substitution; however I wasn't. The quick grits can't compare to the old-fashioned 17-minute yummy grits (Quaker). Once you eat those, you'll never go back to the quick grits.
