The color is a very nice, eye catching 14k gold color. I will definitely use this to help me easily take my necklace on and off. It is made of sterling silver, so won't bother my skin or turn it green and is good for daily wear. It is priced low enough that I can buy several and just keep them permanently attached to my necklaces.
I am rating it 4 stars because of the value (price) but one issue I have and why I am not giving 5 stars. Yes, it could be higher quality, but it is very inexpensive, so weighing the cost and the one issue explained below, it gets 4 stars. I do recommend it as a budget friendly, gold over sterling magnetic clasp.
Some points to note:
1) It is very small. Look at the dimensions and the photos before your purchase to make sure it is the size you want. I was expecting it to be bigger. It is dainty, but it will work.
2) Even though it is small, the magnet is pretty strong. It snaps together from an 1-2 inches away - highly attractive. Because it is pretty strong, it will handle most lightweight necklace/pendant combos.
3) It is marked S925.
4) The spring clasps themselves may not actually be sterling silver. They are magnetic (meaning they attract a magnet, which sterling silver does not do). However, usually for spring clasps, even if sterling silver, there are usually components used that are magnetic, such as stainless steel. The spring clasps could be gold plated stainless steel or actually sterling silver with magnetic stainless steel (or other stronger than sterling silver metal) components.
5) Because the spring clasps are magnetic, it does annoyingly get stuck to the magnet and will likely do this when you are wearing it - bunched up. This is why the 4 stars. I decided I don't really care and will keep it because I need an easy way to get my necklace on and off and this will do the trick. See my photo with the quarter. The two spring clasps are stuck to the magnet. When worn on an actual necklace, it may still stick that way unless the necklace is fairly heavy - but you don't want it to be too heavy because magnetic clasps only work if used with a corresponding weighted necklace. It may not - I will need to test it.
