Giving this a 5 star even though I haven't used it yet. For years I have been wanting to buy a testing kit as I usually just guess what my plants need from reading gardening articles. Sometimes this does not work. Now I am looking forward to having perfect plants. I read instructions and it seems simple enough to use. That is another reason I never bought this before. This 2-in-1 soil test kit works great. I was able to quickly identify the ph and Nitrogen levels in the soil. I tested the soil in several areas around the yard and was able to determine that the nitrogen levels were low and needed a boost of fertilizer. This test kit saved me time and I was able to adjust the nitrogen levels as needed.
I actually ordered these to test the pH and Nitrogen levels in our garden but I am also using them on my houseplants. If you do this also, just make sure to take soil samples from near the root zone (like when you are transplanting into a new pot), not just off the top surface. It appears to work as intended!
I couldn't wait to get home with this kit. I mostly want it for my outdoor flower garden. I have suspected that the PH levels vary throughout my garden and it was very gratifying to validate that with theses strips! Now I know exactly what to do to get the entire area consistent. 95% of my indoor plants are thriving, but I have a couple that have struggled. I tested their soil today, researched the plants preferred PH, and I'm anxious to introduce the additives they need to mimic their native environments.
