Vanilla flavored is slightly bland. I transferred frosting to a bowl and re-whipped it with my electric hand mixer, adding 2 tsp lemon extract, then mixed in sweetened shredded coconut before frosting my cake. Confidant pineapple, lime, cherry or other flavored extracts would work nicely as well.
I was skeptical when I bought this product, but added it to my cake and this is a great alternative if you're not able to make your own buttercream. I used this frosting on the French vanilla cake mix. With the cake mix and the frosting it tasted like it came from a bakery. We thought it tasted like wedding cake.
Absolutely delicious buttercream frosting! I frosted a mini 6” single layer cake with it, then covered it with coconut. I only had a small amount of frosting left over which made me wonder how anyone could frost a regular size cake with it. I even stirred the frosting first before trying to spread it on the cake. I would definitely recommend this frosting but would suggest you buy an extra one in case you run out.
This buttercream frosting is the best out there! Dolly Parton and Duncan Hind does it again! It is so creamy in with every bite. It is so incredibly delicious! It is easy to spread and talk about making you look good quick! It absolutely does that. People will rave about your baked item!
This frosting is smooth, creamy, and easy to work with right out of the tub. Not overly sweet, spreads beautifully, and holds its shape without fuss. It paired perfectly with decorated cookies and cakes and didn't need any extra doctoring. If Dolly endorses it, I trust it—and she didn't miss here. Would happily buy again.
Best buttercream left on the market. Seems buttercream frosting now only comes in “whipped” form, which does nothing but pump it full of air and leaves the container underweight by a quarter cup of frosting. Dolly's is not whipped, giving you a full 16 ounces, not 10 or 12 ounces like other brands. Doesn't have a heavy taste, spreads nicely, only complaint is it uses titanium oxide as a colorant.
I love this it was easy to use and I was able to mix a little bit of food coloring in it to make my son's cake look like it had blue snow on top of mountains and it turned out perfect Great taste not too sweet but it's sweet enough that you can taste the sugar loved it
This is sweeter than a home-made buttercream would have been but it was very easy to spread. I made mini-cupcakes and frosted them with this frosting before freezing them. The frozen product is more creamy than home-made and a little but gummy feeling. The frosting did not freeze solidly.
Not bad for canned frosting. It's not as sickenly sweet as some I've tried. I'm not sure what makes this one different from others. I suggest you add cream cheese or something to tame the sweetness a bit. I'm just not big on ready made frosting, to be honest. I put this on an orange cake. It got eaten, but wasn't anything to brag about, I assure you.
I usually like Duncan Hines, and I thought it would be good with Dolly Parton's name on it. But it's barely edible. An artificial chemical taste that's worse than most canned frostings, although none of them are very good. This one was severely disappointing. Gritty texture as well as yucky taste.
