They work just fine. The paint chips off after a few uses.

These hooks are just O.K. They're not very sharp, but I've been using them for about 40 years now. The paint job is also pretty inconsistent, especially over the hook keeper, which also varies very widely in size. I keep small files on hand to manage that problem. If you don't, your plastic baits tend to rip up a lot faster than if you take the time to trim the hook keeper area down a bit. I also use a hook sharpener on each one before fishing with it. Why buy them you may ask? They relatively inexpensive so I don't mind losing a few here and there. They're pretty well made and the hook itself doesn't bend too easily for its size. I use them mostly when I'm fishing ultra lite gear in new places or places on my regular ponds I fish where I know there are potential underwater snags. Better to lose one of these than the expensive Japanese jig heads I usually use. As long as you're willing to sharpen the hook point and file down the hook keeper area a bit almost every time you tie one on, they work pretty well. You can, and I have, catch fish with these without the fine tuning steps, but you'll hook up more fish if you take the time to modify them a bit. I've caught hundreds (thousands, probably) of bluegill and crappie with these hooks over the past 40 years. I even won 2 trout tournaments using the 1/32 oz size two years in a row.
