These are better than I was expecting them to be. I frequently use a slow cooker as a mini oven to make enchiladas so while doing that I just lay a couple of these on the bottom along with some enchilada sauce and whatever meats I would normally put into a real tamale. It is obviously not the same as true tamale masa as there are mayocoba and garbanzo beans mixed in but I think they just add to it in a good way. Will buy more to keep in a pinch for when I am too lazy to spend the time to make and steam real tamales.
I am a long-time vegetarian, and am always looking for new food items. This one hit it big with me--it's easy to prepare (throw it in the microwave for 15 seconds according to package (I usually go for 30) and it's oh so delicious. It is made with good ingredients--nothing that I didn't recognize and none that I couldn't pronounce--and the taste is delicious ("oh, I already said that, didn't I?) I keep them on hand because they're easy and delicious (and I said that again). I love these.
Honestly I thought I wasn't going to like this but it is freaking delicious and so filling plus it's gluten and dairy free both things that I'm sensitive to but it doesn't have that dry gluten taste at all. These taste like authentic tamales.
These are my go-to when I need something fast but don't want junk. Fillos Walking Tamales taste fresh, have clean ingredients, and don't feel heavy. Way better than typical microwave meals. Definitely keeping these stocked.
I love these. These are currently my hyperfixation snack food. I was kind of on the fence with my first try but quickly fell in love by the second one. I tried the other flavors, but I'm a big fan of the salsa verde. I've been vegetarian for a while and haven't eaten a tamale in years. These definitely satisfied that craving for me. The ingredients are great, the convenience is great and they taste great. 10/10.
We wanted a healthy snack while hiking. The Walking Tamales work well for us: protein, fiber, healthy fats, and complex carbs. And yes, they taste good. The bean salsa verde variety is just spicy enough to not be boring or need enhancements. A big plus for hiking or other outdoor activities: they don't need to be refrigerated and they have a long shelf life. I can keep them in my backpack or car and know that they will be good when I need them. That said, they are not full of preservatives. Just make sure that they remain sealed in their individual packets until needed.
I even put one in my work bag for something quick and simple. The filling is beans and seaaoning in a thick masa, so if that isn't your cup of tea, you might not like these. They do have a little heat to them.
Convenient. At home it's an easy meal you can enhance with taco sauce and melted cheese. However, it's great for camping or emergencies. It doesn't have to be heated and it's filling. The taste is good enough, especially if you add taco sauce. And it's vegetarian. There aren't a lot of beans. Overall it's worth a try and has a good texture.
The Texture was weirdly wet on the masa. Seriously slimey! First time I have tried these tamales %26 won't be ordering them again unless the company/anyone can convince me that this was not how there tamales are suppose to be. Then I may give them another try to be fair.
If you like eating fecal matter out of a bag then this product is for you doesn't taste anything like a tamale literally looks like a giant piece of you know what that slid out of a bag. It stinks and doesn't taste good. and it's the same with all of them so if you're wanting a good tamale do not buy.
