I greatly dislike the small package size that Walmart uses for bran flakes. As a regular consumer of this product it would mean a lot if, IF, Walmart would reward large routine purchases of GV bran flakes. It's one of the FEW remaining low sugar cereals. Start thinking about what's healthy for Walmart CUSTOMERS and less about the bank accounts of Walmart shareholders.
This was a substitution for Post Shredded Wheat and Bran which is what I wanted. But this is just an off brand of Bran Flakes And today I found there was a huge chunk of cemented brown flakes in it, which if I decided to chew, it would probably have broken a tooth. Not good.
I have buying these bran flakes for years (usually 10 boxes at a time) and really liked them. However, there must of been a change in the recipe and they are terrible now. I don’t know what they did but they are disgustingly crunchy and harder to chew. They have a different taste- almost like some kind of sweetness was added. I am bummed because now I have to find a new cereal. There was more crumbs too.
I have purchased GV Brand Flakes for years because it was my favorite cereal for many reasons. It tasted good, was healthy, and kept me regular. Sometime within the past 3-months the manufacturer has changed the product such that it has more sugar, less nutrition, binds me up and the texture is like trying to chew gravel. I recommend choosing another brand.
Walmart has changed the Great Value Bran Flakes. They are now disgusting with an after taste that won't leave your mouth. They have reduced all the vitamins. The flakes are in tiny pieces.
Loved this but now the box is smaller and says 12 servings vs 11 and doesn’t even have a quarter of the vitamins and other benefits that make eating these pencil shavings worth it. No notice that the ingredients changed. Terrible and dangerous for anyone with certain allergies!
We've bought loads of these guys--it's my morning go-to (with added raisins). The last two boxes we've bought decidedly have a major problem. We didn't get bran FLAKES, we got bran POWDER. Top layer of the box had a few flakes, but everything down below was waaaaay to un-flakey. Took one box back to a different story, hundreds of miles distant, were told without a receipt had to trade in like-for-like--which I dislike. So gambled, went out on the floor and got a box. Took the inner bag out in front of the returns clerk, more flakes than the returned one, but still kind of disappointing. But Wally doesn't sell any other bran flakes (unless you count raisin bran, and the raisins are typically tooth-breaking hard), so my have go to--don't say it--Safeway--to try their house brand of bran flakes.
What a scam! I have problems eating certain foods so eating GV Bran Flakes was a source of my vitamins/minerals. Luckily for me, I read the nutrition facts the other day and noticed that they took the vitamin content of most of the vitamins/minerals from 100% to 20% and they also changed the ingredients and put more junk in it. If you're gonna take away from the product then the price needs to be adjusted as well and needs to be cheaper. Also, if the ingredients are changing and the nutritional value is different than before, shouldn't that be clarified on the front of the box? “New ingredients” In bold letters. If you're also using this as a source of daily vitamins/minerals for yourself or a child or elderly person, don't anymore.
Your Daily Values % differences between what the box states and what your product description is. On line many vitamins are listed at 100% while the box states 20%. For those of us that make a conscious effort to watch our vitamin intake, this is disappointing.
These have recently been changed. They longer have the same texture or great flavor that they once had. Please bring back the original “Great Value Bran Flakes “. These have no taste %26 are not your usual Great Value quality. A real disappointment.
