This just happens to be the very first asparagus that I ever had. Over 40 years ago a friend brought this asparagus home for me to prepare since I was cooking dinner for him. It was so delicious that it made me upset that he only brought 1 can!! As of today I'm disappointed that I only purchased 1 can. That will never happen again! I'm about to purchase more and it will be more than 1 or 2!! If you love asparagus and are in a hurry for dinner make sure to get more than 1!!!. It's also delicious for breakfast with an omelet or for lunch as well!!
Every brand of cut spears has quite a few woody pieces, which I pick out. These specifically may have a few tiny spots that are tough, but barely. So I only get these now. Can't get many cause they're pretty pricey, but they're the only kind worth buying.
I don't like stringy, tough asparagus stalks. I've never had one when I've bought Green Giant Extra Long Asparagus Spears. I pay a bit more, but get tender spears every time. To me its worth the cost to enjoy an occasional meal with these great tasting spears.
I love asparagus,, if only my sister wouldn't eat it all Green giant says the one who whi eats the fastest, gets the mostest! ho- ho-ho giant pricetag too I Love My Vegetables they make canned veggies taste farm to table, y'all! Kellithesquirrel
I choose this product because it is the best for our family. Tastes good with no hard stalks! Even though this product may be higher than some I still choose this one because of taste and texture. Definitely enough to feed our family of 4. This brand and product is the best by far!
Occasionally get stems that are tough. Seems expensive. We have tried several brands of canned asparagus and like Green Giant the best. We keep going back to that product because of taste. It is our given tradition for holidays rather than green bean casserole. Sometimes difficult to find, store runs out of supply, so we purchase a few when we find them. They store well.
I've never bought canned long stalk asparagus with such hard, stalky bottoms. Most canned asparagus is very soft...pretty much the entire stalk is very soft...but not these. When you take the price into consideration...there's not enough edible veg in the can to account for paying this. I won't purchase this brand again. You're better off buying cans of just the top portion so you're not throwing so much away. Those aren't available at our Walmart %26 not as easy to find as they used to be. Fresh asparagus is always best...but when I have chicken n dumplings I want canned asparagus because my gma loved it lol. It's just a nostagia thing...but I'll be looking for a different option next time.
We have used this product for years, never had an issue. Along came this offering that we will never purchase again! It is stringy, has a strange flavor and is disliked by the family. Why would you do this? Have you never heard the saying “If it ain't broke, don't fix it”? Did you discover some way to cheapen the product cheaper…? You made a BIG mistake!
I have bought this for years, but this can came to me dented, and when I opened the can it was terrible. I suppose it came this way from the company . Not only were they thin but very hard, no meat on the bone so to speak. ninety percent were completely unusable. I'm not one to complain very often but this was just off the chain not eatable.
I always buy this brand only, and out of many, many yrs of buying these Asparagus from green giant, I love them way better then even fresh ones. Tried all other brands and went back to G. G. NOW, out of all these yrs, this is the First time I got a bad can. For me, when I opened the can, I saw that most of the asparagus was thinner then pencil thin, and I said YAHOO!! The smaller, the better all most all the time. This time they were like rubber bands and I couldn't eat but 2 or 3 pieces. I always add fresh lemon 🍋 juice to the liquid it comes in, and it's not only very good to drink, but Doctors agree, it's a FANTASTIC Diuretic in place of fluid pills( in some cases) I still have to take my medicine, but this is added help. Works great! I will continue to buy this product, unless I keep getting bad ones. We shall see! 🦅🙏🫶💕
