I never heard of this stuff until my housemate told me he always used "chili sauce" on meatloaf when he lived in Illinois, but he's never seen it here in grocery stores in California. I've always used ketchup, and was planning to make a meatloaf when he insisted that chili sauce was so much better, so just for the heck of it, I looked it up on Walmart, and sure enough, I found it here, and at a very reasonable price, so I ordered a bottle. I was thinking it would be a kind of spicy ketchup with chili flavor, but that wasn't the case. It isn't spicy or hot at all. It's just a tangier, zingier version of ketchup, and in my opinion, better than ketchup. I used it on my meatloaf, and it was delicious. I also had some on a hot dog a few days later, and it tasted better than ketchup on that, too. I will be ordering more of this yummy version of ketchup again.
BEST FOOD DISCOVERY of 2025 Can't believe I never heard of this sublime seasoning til a tecipe for New Jersey Sloppy Joes was on the “Taste” website. This is Killer! NOT hot just more flavorful %26 thicker than ketchup. Brilliant for making thousand island dressing to go on that NJ classic 3 decker deli sandwich with mixed cold cuts, cloeslaw %26 1000 island dressing. I use it now in place of ketchup. Fantastic w/eggs. Terrific in tartar sauce. Absolutely recommend. Try it!
Heinz Chili Sauce is not particularly hot but it adds a delightful, full-flavored, ketchup-y spiciness to whatever you put it on. I use it mostly as a topping for meatloaf before I bake it, but also for eggs and hamburgers. I much prefer this brand to others.
This has been a “staple” in our pantry for decades. Love to use this when making homemade cocktail sauce for shrimp, especially during the holidays. Also yummy with scrambled eggs.Little on the pricey side, but still delicious and worth the extra money =)
Just the right amount of heat when added along with grape jelly and orange juice with mini meatballs for an excellent party appetizer! It's a fan favorite.
Heinz chili sauce is the best. I've used other off-brands and they are nothing like Heinz chili sauce. I use chili sauce for the top of my meatloaf, and when I make cocktail sauce for my shrimp. I will continue to purchase this brand
Basically a spicy tomato ketchup. If you like a spicy ketchup this is the one for you. If you think it is too spicey mix some regular ketchup in it for a more mellow taste.
I've enjoyed this product on my mom's meatloaf since I was a little girls and now I'm a septuagenarian and still enjoying it. It's also. Great substitute for ketchup on a fried egg sandwich!
I have a favorite Chili Recipe I've used for many years, that only requires hamburger and onion to be browned and drained, then opening cans and jars of multiple types of beans and this is one item on the list.
I make a lot of meatballs for parties. I've tried so many different sauces. This is by far the best sauce that you can use to make meatballs. Just add a jar of grape jelly and put it in the crockpot. I never buy any other brand.
