This is a really nice 5 gallon trash can, I was actual surprised how sturdy it is. And I love the geometric shape of it as you can see in the picture. Opening is 11", bottom is 9", & the height is 14".

This is a nice size waste basket. It's octogon shape gives it a little more style than a plain trash can and would go well in any room. From the picture, you can see that a standard Walmart bag will fit in it but it won't be able to go all the way to the bottom of the basket.

I like to keep a bucket for my recycle items in the kitchen and then take them to the outside recycle can one time during the day. This wastebasket is the perfect size for this and since it is plastic it is very easy to wash. Black will not show any spills or smudges either. My cats decided it is an ideal place to hide, too.

This 5 gallon trash can, is very versatile it also can be used as a planter the quailty is great, the trash can is nice looking the shape is unique and classic in the color black, its light weight easy to clean, I would highly recommend this product.

This trash can is very generously sized at 5 gallons. Lots of depth, room and space. The matte black finish and sleek geometric design gives it a very modern appeal and style. It serves its purpose well for collecting trash. I also see this trash can as having potential for being a storage container, a place to store toys, etc, or a nice plant pot. Drill a few holes in the bottom and voila! You've got a beautiful trash can turned into a beautiful plant pot.

My "spot" in the living room for lounging and tv watching is the right hand side of a reclining sofa, next to a very large, round end table with a huge houseplant on top of it. I like to have a wastebasket on my right hand side for discarding anything from old magazines to snack wrappers while I am watching tv. I had been using one from our household "collection" that is too small and rectangular shaped. I constantly am having to pick up trash off of the floor because I miss the can when I toss anything in. This Mainstays wastebasket is exactly what I have needed! It is larger at 5 gallons, but not too large. It is round with a nice modern geometric designer appearance in black that matches the decor of my living room. And best of all, it fits nicely in my oddly shaped "spot", as you can see in the photos. After a week of daily use, I have not had to pick anything up off of the floor again. The can looks best without a bag, and can be used that way, but I need a bag so that I don't constantly have to wash out the basket. I wish I could find black 5 gallon bags for a better match, but the one I'm using looks okay too. The construction appears to be clean and durable, and should last me for many years.

Thin black plastic matt trash container. Five gallon size. Has a geometric design. Top is 11" across and 14" tall. Too tall for in cabinet kitchen style garbage. Eight gal trash bag is a generous fit. Would be nice holding a tall plant pot. Bottom is solid so no leaks.

The Mainstays 5 Gallon trash can is..a trash can. It does have a neat shape and i love the matte black color, it goes with the aesthetic of my home perfectly. It has a nice size opening and Ive had to use 13 gallon size bags until i find a proper bag for it. Its too wide for like a store shopping bag. Its made of plastic but isnt flimsy

As the title indicates, this is a five gallon size plastic receptacle. It can be used for trash, yes, but because the size is so petite, and the construction so durable yet lightweight, I find that it's uses are quite varied. Currently, I plan to use it as an ice bucket for my upcoming 4th of July party. After that I am planning to use it to store my extra yarn collection. I can see many many uses for this item other than a simple wastebasket. I took away 1 star from the review because Mainstays makes many versions of these baskets of all colors and designs, some with very charming quotes. This one has a shape that I don't care for, with it's octagonal design and black coloring. I would have preferred a lighter color and a simple round shape. However, the function and versatility is still there. One other note: I wish it had come with a little note explaining the composition of the plastic. I don't know if this item contains any harmful byproducts... Overall would recommend this item.
