I just purchased these bowls and received them today. They are in the dishwasher. I also got the coordinating salad plates. I have 11 inch dinner plates that are in shades of brown and beige in a modern pattern. The beige color of these plates and bowls, match my dinner plates. They are going to look fabulous together! If they are sturdy, don't stain or crack, I am gonna order four more plates and four more bowls. Patti Pole, Pacific Beach.
After a lifetime of a mobile lifestyle in small boats, RVs and camping where I used nothing but light plastic camping plates I am considering a huge step up to stoneware for my retirement home's kitchen. There is a lot to be said for the unbreakable plastic plates and bowls - practical light weight designs with high lips and simple to wash. I decided to try out one very affordable Mainstays bowl and plate. One thing I know I'll like is the way these can be heated a bit and then keep a meal warmer than plastic would. The heft of stoneware is something I may or may not decide I like. So at just two for 5 dollars I can try out a couple of these attractive dishes. I like the shape of their bowl and I like the raised vertical outer lip of stoneware plates vs. the usual boring slope towards the center of most plates. Can't go wrong when they are two for 5 bucks and I may go ahead and buy a setting for four if I like using these.
I originally bought one of these bowls because my dog's plastic bowl wasn't really what I wanted for him, and honestly I was pleasantly surprised! they are very sturdy nice bowls. I ended up buying three more so I had a set for the living room and for the bedroom for him. they hold one whole bottle of water with a little room to spare, and would work well for soups, cereals, ect. I also like that they are heavier and hard to tip or tumble.
I actually purchased this bowl for my little Cocker Spaniel. Ceramic Dog water bowls this size were 2x as much. This keeps her water colder longer vs plastic or metal. Highly recommend
I love this MS ALE brown bowl. It is heavy and made thick. The bowl is kinda deep inside. I would recommend this bowl. It is breakable and very nice. I got to choose this bowl for free in exchange for my honest opinion about it. Here is a couple pictures to show you. Thank you.
I had gotten the Mainstays Blue Rim Stoneware mugs earlier and was so impressed with their appearance and quality, that later I got the salad plates and now the bowls. The bowls were larger than I had thought they would be, but are perfect for stews, chili, cereal, salad - just about anything. Arrived in perfect condition. Since the other items can be purchased (for shipping) in sets of 4, the only small negative was that these were only offered (for shipping) in sets of 3.
Eversince I got this bowl my daughter always choose over any other bowl in our kitchen. She had used them for a variety of meals from salad, soups and even cut up fruits. It has the right depth and weight. It’s easy for an 8 year old to carry around but of course she always eats on the table.
This bowl is microwave and dishwasher safe and is a nice heavy weighted stoneware bowl. I have used it for cereal and I'm really thinking ice cream will taste very good in it. I find heavier bowls etc are great for people with tremors so this bowl would be perfect.
Smaller than I expected. I bought a different bowel in the store that I thought was about the same but it wasn't. I was hoping the top was wider. It can still have a use but I was desperately needing wider top bowels. I would not have bought it at that price if I had known though. I had it delivered and it was put in a bag that had nothing but can food in it. I ordered bread, if nothing else it could have been put with that.
It is thicker and heavier than I was expecting at this price, but . . . . the glaze isn't great. It looks like they glazed the bowl with dust/debris on pottery and its now baked under glaze coating. Even with that, it's a sturdy bowl that will have many uses.
