Taco Salads taste better when served in a Tostada Bowl. I was surprised to find a multi grain corn bowl instead of the normal flour tortilla bowl. Rio Rancho brand packages the corn bowls in a sturdy cardboard container with protective wrap inside to prevent breakage. Fill your tostada bowl with ingredients of your choice - anything goes!
Love these! They cam unbroken in delivery! Way to go driver and packers! It's hard to find pre-made taco bowls. There was a bakery doing it when I first moved here but they stopped a long while ago. I ordered two packs. I recommend scissors to cut the double layer of good plastic and keep the cardboard surrounding the shells, then place the leftovers as wrapped in a gallon bag and refrigerate or keep in plastic tub. They are crunchy! Not too thick, just right!
I was looking to make taco salads, and I could only find these at locally at Walmart. They were perfect! The only issue is I did grocery pickup, and when I got home and pulled them out of the bag, the box looked like it was drop-kicked! Only one bowl was broken because the container inside to protect them was pretty sturdy. Would recommend for a taco salad night!
They are very tasty, but the shell is not as big as I was hoping for. Ate my first taco salad in the 80's from a sit down Mexican restaurant. It was huge shell! These are not mini's, but not large either. I will be buying more of them in the future though till I find a giant shell out there!
The box I got was a little tough to chew and the taste wasn’t great. Won’t by these again. Regular tortilla chips taste much better and are much cheaper for a taco salad.
this is the second time ordering, , just like the first one half the bowls are cracked and shattered, and very thin, not packaged well or handled well if so fragile, Walmart should check out and carry the bowls by Azteca which you form from a large tortilla disk and bake in oven as one from uses the enclosed paper mold, much better quality and no breakage
Ordered bowls, but despite very reasonable protective packing measures inside the manufacturer's box, 3 of the 4 had one third or more of the bowl broken away into pieces. Maybe that happened in supply chain transit or maybe because the person who loaded my order set something too heavy on the box. They still taste ok, but if you need/want intact bowls for tostado presentation instead of (less costly) "chips" as for nachos, then maybe this item should be purchased in person to allow pre-purchase inspection instead as part of a delivery or curbside pickup order. Not a world-ending problem, just something to be awsre of.
I ordered these for delivery, so maybe a dumb idea on my part. They were all broken. I ended up just using them as chips. They have a peculiar taste, not horrible, but not what I was expecting. Won't purchase again.
Although they do package these well, with cardboard to help prevent damage to them, one shell was broken. The flavor of these is terrible. I think it's because they are multigrain, I'm not sure. We usually always buy multigrain, but these shells just did not taste good at all. We won't biy these again nor do i recommend them.
I wanted to Make taco salads. Obtain all the ingredients and began to prepare to build the shell. When I open them up three of them were broken and they smelled horrible. They smelled like plastic. I took a bite of one of the pieces that were broken, and I spit it right out as did my husband. That horrible smell permeated into the actual shells so everything tasted like old plastic disgusting! They were still in date, so there was no reason for it. Extremely disappointed.
