I tie dyed a couple dozen shirts for my son's up %26 coming band, “Soul Medicine”. The shirts had to represent the brilliance that is the band, no washed out or watered down colors. So after tie dyeing %26 before the first washing, I used the color fixative %26 rinsed the shirts in an ice water bath %26 4 months later, countless washes %26 drys past %26 the colors are still very vibrant!!

I dyed a white jacket...brown. Before dyeing, I read the directions and watched youtube videos about the best way to get this job done. I had never used the fixative before but I now know that it is a must. After letting my white jacket soak in the brown dye for the required time, I then poured the fixative into a bucket of clear hot water, stirred, added the now brown jacket and let it sit. When I pulled the jacket out of the fixative/water, no brown was dripping off the jacket...just clear water. The brown dye was set. I hung it on the clothesline to dry. Fixative does just what it says...fixes or sets the color.

the sensitive is quite easy to use along with the RIT dyes. after dying follow the instructions and this will help your color stay for longer. my blacks typically stay black anywhere from 6 to 12 months depending on how I wash them. Works well and I use it regularly.

This Rit product saves dark-color clothes (and $$$)! Since clothing manufacturers insist on making our washable pants, jackets, shirts, etc. in China (where the cheapest dyes possible are used), that clothing fades--repeatedly. This Rit product stops that fading, which is critical when a light-colored item slips into the laundry load.

I like that I didn't have to use a lot and it was really straightforward with the instructions. The only thing is I don't really know if this actually works or not until I wash the fabric again other than that it was great.

Black still isn't black. More of a faded dark grayish bluegreen. That was with cotton, which worked the best. Don't even try on synthetic like polyester. will not work at all.

Packaging looked like this bottle was 10 years old. Nothing like what's in the picture. Also the bottle was half empty and smelled strongly of ammonia. I've bought the RIT dye color stay many times and it's never smelled like that before.

Used this after using rit dyes to tie dye a hoodie, followed directions and allowed to soak for the specifed time. Upon washing the colors bled and faded horribly. Absolutely not worth the time or money.
