Absolutely better than digging deep by hand
Pretty powerful auger, but it can “bind” at times. When starting the motor you need to squeeze the throttle to help the engine catch. BUT, when it does you must let it go immediately! or the blade starts to engage rapidly and can cause the entire motor to whip against your left hand/wrist. And that is painful. Once you get used to how it works, its a very good hole digger. Definitely let the blades and motor do the work, don't push or try to go too quickly.
