It's a great bike for it's price point and intended consumer. It has a bit of a BMX/mountain bike design to it. Newer riders will feel more comfortable sitting a little more upright than that of a typical mountain bike. It's got a cool little color scheme, and a very simple build. Before I gave it to my daughter, I took it apart to make sure it was put together, greased, and adjusted correctly. All I had to do was make a few adjustments. Everything had plenty of grease, and everything was tight. I only had to tweak the shifter and the rear rim was slightly out, no problem. It balances easy at low speeds like a BMX bike would, which makes it easy to ride, but has a suspension fork and a 1x6 drivetrain similar to what you'd expect on bigger mountain bikes. The only negatives is I wish the manufacturers would get away from the twist shifters and go to thumb/trigger shifters. Twist shifters can be difficult to turn for little girls, and accidental shifts are easy. So I ordered a thumb shifter for it, much better. The other is the grar ratio was too tall for much mountain bike riding, especially for a child. It came with a 40 tooth front chainring. Wayyyyyy to tall for a mountain bike, even with 20 inch wheels. I replaced it with a 30 tooth sprocket. It uses BMX style crank, so I had to switch to a BMX style 1/8 wide chain to accommodate it. This was an experiment, but it worked fine thanks to the accuracy of the trigger shifter. I also wish it had a larger head tube to accommodate a 1-1/8 steerer tube fork, but the chances of needing to upgrade the fork are so slim seeing most riders will want a more larger bike by the time they're ready for good front suspension.
Loved the color, so did my grandson. He didn't like the way it rode though due to the mountain bike tires. It rides really rough, we are switching out his tires so hopefully he loves it. This is more for offroad riding, not sidewalk, bike trails, street riding.
About despite from my son for his birthday, the bike broke as soon as we got it just within a day and we took it back to swap it out for another one. Well, we needed one with small of tires that he could still reach the ground because he's you know smaller so we couldn't get just any one of them and the only ones that had smaller tires on it that was comfortable for him to ride just having to be that one so we ended up getting another one exactly like the first one hoping that maybe the first one was just defected no the second one done the same thing with this matter of days and now the bike sits brand new in my bike shed not being used and he rides my bike a purple bike that's a girl bike because it actually works when he does not.
The bike came without a seat. Initially Walmart Service Representative was going to replace the bike, but a week after Christmas decided to refund me instead. None of this made up for the bike under the Christmas tree not having a seat, and the little girl it was for only forgave me because she's such a sweet kid. Other than the fact the bike was incomplete, it seems to be a great bike, and it arrived in time for Christmas, but her mom didn't unbox it until Christmas Eve, so she didn't notice it didn't have a seat until it was too late to do anything about it. At least Walmart refunded me, but it would have been nice for them to have made it up to the little girl disappointed on Christmas morning. I did manage to find a seat to put on the bike, and she is able to ride it now, but I don't know who was more disappointed Christmas morning, her or me.
i disliked the assembling of the front tire and the brake assembly. The cable came apart and I had to go to a bike shop to get it connected, otherwise my granddaughter is very pleased.
This was going to be a gift for Christmas to be wrapped up IN the box. I ordered this plus another bike for a younger sibling and had it delivered to my parents. I didn't realize this bike was shipped assembled until recently when I went to pick up the boxes. It is dusty and has some scratches on the decals which are the main reasons why I didnt want to buy one assembled at the store... where it looks used. I specifically didn't want it assembled as I wanted both boxes wrapped. I had to change plans and make it a bday present. He received it today. We had to air up the tires, no big deal until we discovered one of them had a big bubble. We let air out and tried to adjust the tube and it does it again. Within 5 min, the tire is flat. Can't make it to Walmart until tomorrow to buy a new tube. Poor kid has to wait another day to ride his "new" bike.
it is a good kids bike. I would absolutely encourage anyone who purchases one of these bikes too of course thoroughly look over the bike and make sure everything is tightly secured and in the correct place. we tuned it up as usual just making sure the bolts were tight however one of the pieces was put on incorrectly and had we not noticed would have made the bike not be able to break. the lack of stars is just do what you the fact that if you're purchasing a bike that is put together you assume it's at least put together correctly.
the delivery person but the bike out in the middle of the driveway where anyone could have rode off on it! We have a screened in porch for delivery. i also didn't even get an email notification that the bike was delivered until at least an hour after delivery.
Quality is crap, the gear wheel is made of plastic….. really… you're going to make the part that takes the most beating out of plastic? Save yourself time and look past this piece of crap. The gear wheel came broken. Part of the plastic broke off. Also the chain switch came severely bent. The entire bike was trashed before even riding.
You sent this product as a gift to my grandson.. brand spanking new in the box not opened with NO SEAT.. I can't send pictures! I sent it 4 hours away
