Excellent quality. The packaging protects the product from moisture and keeps the seed fresh. I am a repeat customer who will continue to purchase these seeds. "My" goldfinches, purple finches, and house finches must love them as evident by their trips to the feeder. This is my recommendation: use a sock feeder it cuts down on waste and only serves the finches.
This is, by far, the most economical way to buy nyjer seed, if you're feeding a lot of finches. But having free shipping ... that's incredibly convenient too! The bag is durable, but also packed inside a box during shipping. The seed was fresh, not a lot of dust like another brand I was buying, and the birds love it!
Initially our birds were not interested in this seed unless other birds wouldn't let them onto other feeders or the other feeders were empty. After about 6 weeks, we mixed with Safflower and now they really like that mix. Sometimes there's even a "line" on the fence to get onto our 2 feeders with the seed mix. The great thing about the mixed seed food is it has eliminated our blackbird problem!
greatly needed due to weather
This getting harder to find. My goldfinch colony rejects the small, brown niger seed. So I buy this more expensive, large black niger seed. It is worth every penny.
the item came on time. It was packaged very good. The seeds looked fresh, and the bird love them.
I love this seed for all of the finches that it attracts. The 50 pound size is ideal and a great savings
Canary enthusiasts know that nyjer seed is expensive. The processing of African or Indian grown nyjer, when it gets to the States is critical. Too little heat and the seed may be viable, and oddly, the canaries don't care for the taste. Too much heat and the seed becomes friable, dusty and less palatable. So far, Wagner's nyjer, in the 50lb sack, has proven to be consistently palatable for our western goldfinches. This is a bulk products, and I don't actually know who the processor is, but Wagner attaches its name to the sale item. The seed does contain a few twigs and stems which costs one star on this review.
arrived in good time and as advertised. Seller is good but birds hardly touch the seeds for some reason. So, guess I won't bother next year. Sadly. This is not a review on the seller they get an A Plus from me. It is the product itself seems to not be liked by my birds.
All junk. NO birds, finches, or others coming close to it. They land and leave, a total waste of birdseed. Even those pesty squirrels that eat anything aren't even interested in it. After feeding for several weeks I can say I still have not had to refill the feeders at all. I dumped and refilled them twice thinking the seed might have gone "bad", but the birds still don't come. Don't waste your money on this product.
