I'm a high handicap golfer, new but progressing - I'm over playing random schwag balls, but didn't want to spend a bunch of premium balls. These are great for my skill level and a good price
This was the first ball I played after a significant layoff from golf. As an older golf losing distance was a hard to adjust too. I kept changing balls looking for a little more distance and control around the greens. Now Wilson is one of 2 balls I keep in my bag. And the Wilson Duo is taking the lead as my primary ball.
I'm a 13 handicap senior golfer with a driver swing speed of 85+ mph. I bought several dozen of these balls after playing a sleeve of them. I love the hi viz yellow. This ball flies, holds the line, and stops when I need it to. For me, this is a super value ball. One-third the price of top tier balls and most golfers can't tell the difference.
I needed a ball I can track and locate easier when I play alone. I have the matte yellow and red ones and they are fantastic. My swing speed is only 89 but most importantly they go straight and find more fairways. The colors pop and are a lot of fun, the matte yellow just looks so cool!
As the title suggests I have spent the last 12 months testing many, many golf balls in order to come up with a top three list and maybe two runners up. I have tried all the major brands and a few of the better known direct buy brands. As is usually the case with testing golf balls all the balls I tested were put up against the Titleist Pro V1. I thought I had already selected my top three but I just tested the Duo Soft today and I am forced to reshuffle the deck with my selections. This ball is outrageously good. I'm 65 years old and have played almost my whole life. I have an unofficial HDCP of 2.2. As with all seniors I struggle with reduced distance and play from the white tees most times. The Wilson Triad was one of the balls I had tested earlier in the year. An excellent ball and was one of my runners up. Today, the Duo Soft was a better experience. The feel off the driver was not overly soft, it was just the right amount of compression and it made a great sound of the face of my Wilson Dynapower Titanium driver. Excellent true flight with just the right amount of high trajectory. It was a windy afternoon and the ball did not seem to sail off in the direction of the wind as bad as other balls. With my irons the ball felt very crisp and there was plenty of spin to help check my approaches. Even hitting a 7 wood into the greens the ball stayed on the putting surface and didn't roll off onto the fringe. With the putter the ball has a solid feel - other "soft" golf balls tend to feel mushy on the green. So, I have decided to include the Duo Soft in my top three picks along with the Vice Pro and Maxfli Tour X. Notice that none of the top three sell at premium prices and are considered more economical in cost. I know this is only my own opinion but the results tell me not all of the premium priced balls give the player an added advantage.
First off, I was a ProV1x user with a 10.1 handicap. I drive the golf ball well over 300 yards…putting is terrible, but irrelevant. Honestly, I think I might lose 5 yards driving with these vs ProV1x's. Personally I think it helps decrease spin rate for me therefore less slicing and allowing for more precision tee shots. This golf ball is beyond underrated and I will not be switching back anytime soon.
I scored my first Hole In One using the Duo Soft. Flushed an 8 iron to 125 yards. As soon as I hit it the ball looked good as it traveled straight and true hitting 3 feet from the pin and taking a gentle stroll into the cup. This ball feels great off the putter too. Good distance, feel, and controllability.
Must say this ball outperforms all the other balls I have played. Just recently played the Wilson Triad and felt there was something just not right (it's a feel thing) but I came across this Duo Soft and wow !!! I was blown away with my driver as well as irons . I broke 80 with this ball. My swing speed is 95mph and I have a moderate tempo. And let me tell you about my putting…. This ball feels very soft and not put out that clicky sound like many others do. This ball gave me a well balanced roll and seems to come off the putter face perfectly. I was very pleased with the trajectory, spin, and direction with this ball. My chipping was improved with ball, giving me the confidence that it will perform as expected. You have to give this ball a try despite it being a 2 piece ball and super low compression that Wilson produced. By no means it feels and performs like a cheap ball . My hats off to Wilson !!
I alternated holes with ProV1 and after ten rounds could see no difference in length of drives. There is enough spin off my wedges that balls from 100yds out land on the green and stop within a foot. I love these balls!
My 2 lowest scores ever, as well as 2 Eagles, were scored with Duo Soft balls (the older generation). If you are new at the game, tend to lose a lot of balls, are mid-handicap or higher, this ball could well help your game and lower your score. Distance is good, it feels soft on a well-hit shot and it holds the greens just fine if you know how to back-spin. Truely, I could use this ball for the rest of my life just fine and continue to score well as a mid-handicap golfer. I more recently moved "up" to the Wilson Triad for my game, because I love to scramble and the short game is my best area. I get a few yards more distance off the Tee and prefer it for my short game. 80% of golfers could use the Wilson Duo Soft and play their best game, but golf balls are like ice cream...no one likes to eat just one flavor!
