I bought this for my chestnut mare who was really grumpy when she went into heat. She would buck and be extremely girthy. On Mare Magic, she quit bucking almost entirely and the girthiness went away! I think it just took the edge off, perhaps she had cramps. I can relate! She sold after only being on the product for about 3 months, so I don't know if it gets better or worse in the long run, but I was satisfied for the short time. She loved it, too! Licked all of it up.

At the age of 10, with no prior history, my mare started to have what seemed to be hard and painful cycles, to the point where she was a danger to herself and the rest of the barn (body slamming in her stall and destroying fences in the pasture). She was checked by the vet for possible cysts or infections and all came back clear. I even had a scheduled appointment to get her marbled but wanted to try Mare Magic first. I was a bit skeptical but willing to try it! Let's just say that life is back to normal and we never made it to that marble appointment! I can tell that she is much less crampy and she has never rubbed her hips raw or slammed the walls of her stall since she's been on Mare Magic! What a relief! I can tell when runs out of it and I make sure that I always keep a stock of it! I will admit that the Mare Magic itself is a bit on the expensive side, so I use the "generic" version: I buy organic raspeberry leaves in bulk with the same great can't-leave-without-it results!!! If you have a mare with hormonal/cycle issue, give it a try!!!

I have a hot Ottb that used to stress a lot. He would constantly pace back and forward and chew wood when he was stressed. I tried magnesium and it worked well but I heard that mate magic works wonders, so I decided to try that for a little bit instead. What a difference!! He's like a new horse! He's so laid back and easy to work with now. He is a picky eater and has no problem licking his bowl clean with this. I can't recommend this product enough!

And this helped him regain his brain and kept his stall door from being knocked down so he could go visit the mare across the aisle. He thinks he's a stallion, but everything we've tested proves he's not...just a lovestruck idiot over this particular mare. A couple weeks of Mare Magic and he's no longer looking like 'that guy' in the bar with the silver chains and hairy chest (no offense if that's your thing) going 'hubba, hubba, baby.'

It worked well for my mare with irritable attitude and spookiness. Much more agreeable to work with. I wonder if it interfered with her ability for her blood to clot, after a serious injury. She cut the main artery of her lower back leg, after kicking through a particle lined metal shelter. The mobile vet unsuccessfully tried to tie off the vein. After calling a vet surgeon, he recommended a pressure bandage and assured us that it should clot after a couple of hours. It did not and she had to have emergency surgery to tie off both ends of the artery. She had to be on fluids and plazma for a day and a half, and stalled for 60 days. The surgeon kept repeating that this was highly unusual that a cut to the lower leg below the knee always clots with a pressure bandage, and wants to check her blood later to see her platelet count to see if she is a bleeder. I forgot about the supplement and failed to mention it. Later after researching, rasberry leaves cause blood vessels to relax. Apparently several herbs can interfere with platelets and clotting. I don't know if this was the cause, but I do not want to risk it by giving it to her in the spring when I start working with her, even though I had good results with her disposition. Please be aware with this possible side effect.

You can buy red raspberry leaves in bulk for about $18 for 16oz bag ( so about 36$ for 32oz) Just because it is labeled for horses and sold through an equine site should not make it cost more then double! With that being said, the leaves works wonders for my mare!
