This is the first time I've tried the Bettergoods lemon peel and garlic olives. What a unique flavor! It's light, mildly lemony, then the garlic flavors make themselves known. I'll be buying more of these!
I never leave reviews but this product is worth it. The garlic and lemon complement eachother and make the olive a perfect salt level. I have been obsessed with avacado toast, topped with the olives sliced with crumbled cheese and seasoning.
I could not wait for this order to arrive, and I wasn't disappointed. These olives are absolutely delicious. They do have a strong lemon taste. I suppose a good judge of whether or not you would like them is how much you like lemon zest on your salads, pastas, etc. This is definitely a Mediterranean taste. I'm having a hard time not eating the whole jar, frankly. I can't wait to try the combination another reviewer mentioned of the stuffed olives with grapes. I will probably chill the grapes first so they are almost frozen. Of course I will have to buy another jar of olives, because there's no way this one will last until my next grocery delivery. If you love olives, and you love lemon, I can't imagine that you wouldn't love this. it is on the expensive side and definitely a treat, but you have to have some pleasure in this world and indulge yourself once in a while.
A bit of a splurge, but worth it. I like having all sorts of olives available to make each salad different daily - or if you have guests they can choose the olives %26 sides they like on their salad ! These are unusual with the lemon peel in the middle. Nice ! You'll like them !
If you love olives, you'll love these
Great for adding in dishes I cook. To salty on their own. Yes, I'll purchase again.
The lemon rind makes the brine surprisingly bitter, which completely overpowers any subtle garlic notes you might expect. The quality of the olives themselves is also fairly mediocre. Instead of a firm, meaty bite, a large portion of the batch is quite soft and mushy, with several broken or torn pieces floating in the liquid. They might work fine if you chop them up heavily to mix into a large pasta salad, where the sharp citrus flavor can be diluted by a vinaigrette and other ingredients. However, if you are looking for a straightforward snack to set out on a cheese board, these do not hold up well. The physical texture is simply too inconsistent, and the strange, bitter aftertaste means they are not going to be a crowd-pleaser for guests.
I'm conflicted because I buy garlic stuffed green olives just to eat as a snack. they are my go-to snack. garlic stuffed green olives and grapes are absolutely delightful together. trust me I'm a retired chef they're delicious. I thought this would be really kind of good because it would have a slight lemon flavor. but no they have a very strong lemon flavor. but garlic is non-existent. the lemon peel and piece of garlic is stuffed into the olive. so the garlic is completely taken over by the lemon rind. the lemon rind is also the entire rind so it has a large amount of pith on it. aka the white part. that is the part that is bitter. so they can have a very strong bitter aftertaste. they're not bad. they're just not great just kind of okay
These aren't that great--a little bitter and the lemon is a bit of a turn off. I thought it might be fresheshing--not so much! Mezzetta brand garlic stuffed olives are the greatest!
These taste bad. I love great value garlic stuffed olives so I thought I would try these. I have been disappointed with better goods products in the past and these are the worst so far. Some of the olives even had black bad spot on them.
