I'm a big fan of FRC's Italian Espresso and their blends, so I thought I'd check out their darks from other destinations. I picked up a sample bag of the whole bean dark varieties of the Costa Rican and the Huehuetenango to begin my exploration. Though I'm not as big a fan of the Costa Rican, the dark Huehuetenango is a definite keeper. I'm not sure if it's the non-standard soil composition of the area where the beans are grown and harvested or what, but, for a dark, thd taste is smooth without sacrificing any of the body I appreciate so much in a dark roast. If you like the Espresso line, you'll enjoy the Huehuetenango.
A dark roast oily bean produces full flavor coffee. I enjoy the flavor so much I bought 4 bags on my most recent purchase. I usually enjoy the flavor of Dark Columbian coffee, but this is a nice change of pace.
Dark Guatemala Huehuetenango is among the finest dark roasts out there. A perfect complement to a medium roast like papua New Guinea if you;re like me and enjoy hand-blending medium and dark roasts.
My husband and I both thought this was some of the best dark roast coffee we've ever had. (We're dark roast coffee lovers. ) We will be ordering this regularly from here on out. Fast shipping and arrival. Very fresh, full-flavored coffee!
Arrived super fresh. love the “wet bean” look and smell  This is my go-to roast. I like a strong full flavor, but not overly bitter. I drink for the flavor, not for the kick. It's like the quality red wine of coffee :) Caffeine historically hasn't affected me, so I'm not the best to ask if it gives a jolt :woman-shrugging: I'd switch to decaf, but I always found decaf doesn't taste as good (in my opinion).

I love this coffee. We buy beans and grind, brew using a drip coffee machine. The whole beans are glistening and so fragrant when you open the bag. It brews up beautifully, the flavor is never bitter, very smooth, not acidic. I converted my stepson, who was NOT a coffee drinker, and he is now a Fresh Roasted Coffee believer too. You can't go wrong with any of FRC varieties, but if you like a rich but smooth coffee, I think you will like it.
I visited coffee growers in Guatemala in 2004 and was impressed with the qualities of the local coffee beans. Have been enjoying it since then. Back then I'd order from the plantation but have been using Fresh Roast Coffee ever since I Found it. Good Beans, Good Roasting, Good Value!
Buy Dark Guatemala Huehuetenango if you want a bold full bodied coffee that is also easy on the stomach
I am really enjoying the Huehuetanago dark roast. The beans have a wonderful aroma and, for being a dark roast it is super smooth with no bitterness. My pour-overs brew perfectly.
