Really enjoyed this one. It's smooth, bold, and not acidic at all, which I prefer. Strong chocolate and earthy flavors, with a rich, full body that feels very satisfying. It's not bitter, just deep and balanced. Great as a morning coffee and also holds up well if it sits for a bit. I've been making it as a pour-over and it comes out consistently good. If you like darker, fuller coffees instead of bright or fruity ones, this is definitely a great choice.

I was not blessed with a sensitive flavor palette as the lucky few are. Coffee has always just been coffee to me. That is until I tried the Sumatra Mandheling! It has a great depth of flavor that I would further describe as chocolatey, earthy, warm, and comforting. Not sweet, but like a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold night. For me, it is a coffee to be enjoyed any time of day, and not just for a quick cup in the morning. It is my favorite so far, and maybe forever because I don't have much reason to look for a better one.

Why Sumatra Arabica beans? They are naturally low to zero acidity, and the Mandheling process brings out a smooth natural sweetness and deep flavor. When I saw that Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC offers roast-to-order Sumatra Mandheling, I had to try it. A bit about my coffee routine: I use a Nespresso Vertuo machine, but I prefer my own coffee. I reuse the original Vertuo capsules; opening them, cleaning them, and refilling them with Sumatra Mandheling beans from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC, medium roast, bold-bodied, freshly roasted and ground for espresso. This is one of my favorite coffee blends thus far. Have tried several but this one is full bodied for sure. Tasting notes say “heavy” and yes I would agree with that. If indeed heavy is a taste. More of a sensation to me but I like it none the less. Not one to taste many of the notes that get put out there but I do like the strong flavor profile this coffee offers. I make it with a Chemex just like I do all coffees from Fresh Roasted Coffee to drink on weekends. If you like a full bodied or bold coffee you are sure to like this one. I usually have been getting just the Sumatra single origin but will be getting this more often in the future.

I have been searching for the coffee I had on a trip to Bali, about 14 years ago. Nothing has approximated it as close as this. I think I can stop my fervent search now lol.

Very good coffee, one of many favorites I nice flavor, mouth feel, can dial in on grinder easy and espresso machine makes a balanced shot,enjoying it alot.

To be honest, I was looking for a reasonably priced gourmet-style daily coffee. Over the years, I have tried lot of brands and, not surprisingly, the really quality stuff is the most expensive. It's worth it to me to have a whole pot of low-acidity Sumatra every day. Finding FRESH ROASTED was a pleasant surprise. The quality and taste is equal to the pricier stuff I was buying. Mission accomplished.

Can't tell medium roast from dark roast. All three 5# bags I've purchased are french roast, and maybe even a little beyond.
