These are so much better than french's! besides the fact that you get way more for a lower price, the flavor of these is way better than the name brand ones, they're also crunchier! i usually use them in bbq chicken wraps but ive also used them on green bean casserole. i got the frenchs once to use on our bbq chicken wraps and my boyfriend thought I forgot to put the crispy onions on it bc they were so bland compared to these. i highly recommend these!
I'm trying all the Great Value brands since the price is so much more favorable than the ones I have been so "brand loyal" to all these years. The quality is very comparable in everything I have tried. I use the canned veggies and condensed soups in cooking casseroles, all just as delicious. Enjoying the Greek yogurt. Cannot tell the difference in taste compared to name brands. It can't hurt to try. I think you'll be glad you did!!
I've been buying these for a long time to use as a crunchy topping for several dishes. Somehow I often end up just munching on them by themselves because they're sooooo satisfying and tasty to crunch on. Sometimes I actually have some left to cook with. Price is right and the quality never dissapoints.
I've tried other french onion types and I will say, they almost all seem the same, with some of the premium ones lasting longer when it comes to staying crunchy. But in terms of flavor almost all taste the same. these do the job without taking anything away.
Just about the closest thing to Durkee's and i don't mean "French's" i mean back when they were Durkee's Onion Rings. the French's ones are saltier. these are a good level of salt/onion/batter flavor blend. and a very nice price! even though they're packed in bags, there's remarkably minimal amounts of breakage into tiny crumbs.
Why pay more for the name brand when these taste exactly the same? I use french fried onions in green bean casserole, on salads, and anywhere else I want that nice crunchy onion flavor, and these deliver every single time. The taste and texture are identical to the more expensive brands and the price difference is noticeable. Once you try these it's hard to justify spending more on the name brand version. A great buy that I would recommend to anyone who uses french fried onions regularly.
I love these. They are an excellent snack Instead of eating fake onion, Funyuns, I have these instead. The price difference between the Great Value French Fried Onions and the Frito Lay Funyuns is huge for the same amount of ounces. They are very easy to measure for serving size if you are watching your carb/calorie intake, they have an excellent crunch, putting the resealable bag inside a ziplock they last over a week easily, and do not require refrigeration. The first ingredient on the GV French Fried Onions is onions. The Funyuns don't list onions on the ingredients list until the 9th ingredient and it is listed as onion powder. The Funyuns have more than 4 times the sodium for the same amount of ounces. I have used these on Green Bean Casseroles and I tasted no difference from the French's Crispy Fried Onions version. Plus, again, the price for the GV is much cheaper.
These taste close the higher cost and brand name ones there's not much difference that you would really notice and has the onion taste just like the brand name one maybe not as strong but taste is still fine in every dish that I have used it in and cost a lot less
I thought I'd try the store brand this time but it was definely inferior to the name brand which made a big difference in the overall taste of the dish. It wasn't as crunchy and more greasy than the name brand item but if your looking to save money and the dish doesn't rely much on this ingredient that it's definely cheaper.
Purchased these for Thanksgiving meals and was really disappointed in the taste and texture. These had more of a cracker-like texture rather than the fried onion texture from the well-known name brand that is SO expensive. So as to not waste food, I've been using these fried onions up by crushing and adding to my meatloaf or in other seasoning mixtures. Doesn't add or take anything away, I just use fewer crackers in the mixture. While most of the Great Value products are pretty darn good, these are not a repeat buy item.
