This melting cheese is just as good as the name brand without the larger price tag. I use it for baked macaroni and cheese or make my own cheesy hamburger helper. Grilled cheese, cheese sauce, etc. I like that I can keep it in my pantry, because it doesn't need to be put in the refrigerator until you open it.
Read the ingredients compared to the name brand. I was shocked that Great Value brand has REAL MILK ingredients but the name brand adds oil. Milk is the first ingredient and whey is good for you too. This cheese has 5g protein per serving, 20% calcium and 25% vitamin A. Cheddar Cheese has 9g fat but this cheese only has 6g fat. I feel much better about what I'm feeding our family now.
Honestly, this tastes better than the name brand for $2 more, velveeta. I use this in anything with cheese in it except pizza, especially mac and cheese that only comes with cheese powder. It melts easy, and blends well with grated cheddar cheese when melted. Add some salsa, and you got a great queso dip.
Bae brand Velveeta is too salty for me, but the flavor of this one is great. We happened to take a trip to Kroger and bought their brand to make our salsa con queso recipe with, and it absolutely ruined it. I won't use another brand anymore. This one just delivers everything I want.
If you're a V fan, you should really try this cheese. You honestly can't tell the difference. I whip up a dip with it, some ground beef, taco seasoning, black olives, and some salsa. It's awesome, everyone loves it and always wants more.
when you don't have time to make your own cheese sauce use this for Mac and cheese, nacho sauce, broccoli soup but let's be honest it's not heath food so use accordingly
We bought this for our Superbowl cheese dip. I had never used the brand, but I was pleased with the texture, taste and melting ability. I warmed up a can of chili (no beans), fresh green onions, can of tomato chucks, water, milk, and a few chopped canned jalapenos. 20 minutes before serving I added the cheese ( I cut it in one inch chunks) and it just blended right in. It was a smooth hit.... It saved us money, good job Walmart.
Considering my circumstances/situation, past and present; very thankful for such. Powdered cheese is good also, however, thank-you for providing this. As I had asked for a reasonable tasting long shelf-life cheese product. Additionally, the sliced "American Gold" is very good tasting. I have bought some of that a few times. The Swiss have their own cheese, however, I prefer "American Gold". Milk however is not a "commodity" and does require much labor with significant ecological disruption also, but I am very thankful for such Great Value Cheeses. I consider "commodities" to be those products that are able to be harvested from along roadways and railways; common products that are produced via common Civil needs, works, and services.
I tried this twice and got the same results each time. Pros: Affordable price, large block of cheese, nice yellow color, and my dogs enjoy it. Cons: Sandy, grainy texture, doesn't taste like Velveeta, melted poorly when I tried it with tortilla chips so I ended up just eating the chips alone, and it has a processed flavor.
Some reviews said that Melt n Dip was better than Velveeta…it's Not. I found the consistency to be overly soft and oily. I buy a lot of GV products but it's a one and done for me on this dupe.
