I pressure cook my dried beans. They come out perfect every time. Wash beans add 1 cup beans to 3 cups water makes 2 quarts of beans. (I add a slice of bacon, few slices of onion, 2 to 3 tsp. Of salt and pepper to taste.) You can season to your taste. I cook in InstantPot on high for 50 minutes, no need to soak.
Hardworking kitchen staple! Inexpensive, practically stores forever, powerhouse nutrition, versatile - great in soups, stews, salads; hot or cold, fancy or plain! Tasty, rich earthy character whether you eat a plain bowl of beans, or make a major production.
Never thought I'd be writing about a bean... but here we go. These are in need of a long soak to make your experience hassle free (24 hours or more for stovetop cooking). They work your patience meter if you try to cook them without a long soak. Rinse clean, soak in a pot with the water level about 2 fingers above the beans. Place a lid on the pot. Set aside for 24 hrs or more... just forget about them. I have soaked them up to 2 days--No problem. Yes, they will smell when you lift the lid! Don't worry... it's all part of the process. Rinse the smell away and you're ready to cook. Stovetop requires patience, adding water, stirring, and nursing them along to the seasoning stage. Pressure cooking is the way to go, but it's 2-stage. After soaking and rinsing... load the cooker with the beans and bring the water level 2 fingers deep. Pressure cook for 3 hours. Done! (Stage-1 complete) BUT... enter Stage-2. I like to get more intimacy with my beans than that. So, I transfer them into a pot and take them to the next level. Add on options: ground beef, turkey, chicken, onions, etc., whatever taste and nutrition you want. It's all good from here! Let everything cook on med/low until done. Add your seasonings last and let simmer. Keep moist and stir occasionally. *Cornbread goes great with this belly warmer!
these taste as good as name brands, have to wash and clean them as you woukd with any other Brands. they taste good and cook up just like any other ones
we love pinto beans and I put them in my crockpot and when we get home they are done and smells amazing,I always cook bacon and seasoning with them, and I always keep mine and my kids stocked up on them in there homes, great price and value for the money, you won't ever go hungry, keep them stocked. And they are a great protein, these days i think we all use protein to help our bodies heal.and you can smash them up and make your own refried beans 🩷
Pinto beans are good for your heart. The more you eat the more you f*rt. The more you f*rt the better you feel. Eat pinto beans for every meal!! LoL Excellent dry beans!! Best value and product!
The pinto beans from Walmart it's delicious. My whole family always talks about Goya, but I tried this one and now is our favorite
these are great for the price i got a bag that was mainly broken beens but im not sure if they are all like that but they are still edible and walmart keeps there prices reasonable so no complaints.
The quality is fine, I mean, they're dried beans, how can you go wrong. My main complaint is the price, which has been creeping up steadily recently without justification. There's virtually zero labor that goes into these staples, yet the price is keeping pace with other products. Worse, some cheaper brands are intentionally no longer carried to make Great Value seem like a better deal when it isn't. In summary, look for these staples in bulk elsewhere, you may be surprised by how much you save. Walmart really letting us down here...
Not good too many dark beans mixed in with Regular pintos. Smells ok, if you doctor them up, taste fair, spent a long time picking out the bad ones!?
