Cracklin' Oat Bran remains a standout in the cereal aisle, offering a unique oven-baked texture and a complex flavor profile that blends toasted oat bran with coconut flakes, cinnamon, and nutmeg(?). It delivers a satisfying, cookie-like density that holds up well in milk, providing 7 grams of fiber per serving for sustained fullness. The absence of artificial flavors and colors, combined with its fortified vitamins, makes it a comforting, nostalgic choice that successfully balances indulgence with nutritional substance. However, consumers should be mindful of its high sugar content, which ranges from 16 grams per serving, significantly exceeding the average for cold cereals. This sweetness, while contributing to its dessert-like appeal, means the cereal is better suited for occasional enjoyment/snacking rather than daily consumption.
It tastes somewhat different than it used to. Who knows? Maybe the Kellogg's Cracklin' Oat Bran taste the same, but I have not eaten this for so long. I forgot what this particular cereal tastes like. Whether it tastes a little bit different now or not, the cereal is still delicious.
It's delicious, has a decent amount of fiber. It's not particularly healthy, it has a lot of sugar. Kind of pricey for the amount of cereal you get. Still, if you must eat cereal and want to pretend it's healthy this is the tastiest way to go!
I remember eating this roughly 100 years ago when it first came out, and that taste memory is different than when I tried the. Again recently. I think they tweaked the recipe; I remember at first they tasted so good because it they added fat. Anywho, these taste more cinnamony now, but they're still dense, so crunch that rather than like cornflakes.
In the world of cereal that I don't eat that often, this would be in my top five. Be aware this cereal does get soggy quicker than most and it goes stale faster which may be a good thing because it might mean fewer preservatives. The taste is delicious
These can be hard to come by and you'd be lucky to find them on sale anywhere. Walmart has the best price on them. They're very crunchy but soft and quickly with milk. they taste a lot like an oatmeal cookie and great as a snack
I let my kids eat cereal once a week. A few highlights and lowlights on this cereal. It doesn't have the phony chemical colors and dyes most other cereals have, of course it unfortunately includes natural flavor but good luck finding a cereal your kids will eat that doesn't, and like all cereals the sugar could be dialed down a notch but its not the worst out there. Now, my kids need the extra calories and this like all cereals will do that , including milk you get 300 calories and 10g of protein. It does use palm oil which isn't the worst of the seed oils. The cereal holds up in milk very well and it tastes pretty good. This cereal is the best of the worst coming from a big box retailer.
This was a item that I find on a small shelf other than deli for discounted items but after buying it I noticed that it that placed that way and for resale from obviously a employee that is discounting items but not checking expiration dates!!! It was expired last month. J/s…. So it will be returned.
I used to buy this cereal regularly I was Looking for something different because I was tired of eating cornflakes. Well, something is definitely different with the blend of Cracklin Bran now on the market-It was so hard and dry. There was no taste of coconut. And let's not forget that's it's now very expensive. I won't be buying this cereal Again.
Love Cracklin Oat Bran, but NOT from Walmart online! Came expired (received in December 2025 and box said it expired in October 2025) and with worms living in the bag!! My son opened the box only to find webs and live worms in the cereal! That is when we discovered it was past the expiration date (as I took pictures to send to Kellogg's).
