I just found these about 1 month ago...just bought my third Jar...so, yes, they are good. Bought one for my sister and she is well pleased....I can foods and do pickling and fermenting....these were such a good price I gave them a try....yum! Cheaper than I can make them at home! Plus the wonderful 64 oz jar can be used to make pickled eggs/sausages in for the counter.
The pickles are amazing. Unfortunately the shipping / packing by Walmart was so bad that one of the jars was completely smashed and ruined. Live and learn. There is no way to even get a refund from Walmart because the refund process is AI with limited options which would require me to pack up and ship back a box of broken glass shards, and glass embedded okra. Shame on Walmart for not even trying to pack and ship properly / safely.
Pefectly pickled okra. Spot on taste, texture, appearance! I've gone through 1 of the 3 already and getting ready to crack open my 2nd jar! I will definately order this product again! If you are an okra expert eater like me...THIS is your product. ENJOY
I was so sad when I discovered that the Walmart stores here in Milwaukee don't carry the jars Old South Pickled Okra like the Walmarts do in Shreveport where I used to live. I almost cried when I figured out I could get them online from the website and so I ordered 6 jars right away, twice now. One of my favorite things to do is get up in the middle if the night, standing in my pajamas, with the refrigerator door open, and chow down on several fists full of these bad boys. Dang they are good!
The product is very good. Great taste and texture. My family tried this for the first time on vacation in Missouri. We loved it so much we ordered some for home. Unfortunately the shipping for this was not terrible. It broke twice during shipment. My first order was delayed at a shipment facility because it was damaged, Walmart was great and got it reorder right away and then it was delivered to my house and once again it was delivered damaged and the jars were broken. This is due to poor packaging. They need to package it with some protection bubble wrap, foam sheets, brown paper or something. 6 large jars it a box without anything to protect them from touching when they bang around during shipping not the way to go.
Great value quality and taste and at a great price. Pickled okra has gotten to be a little pricey these days, and it's nice to find a product that gives you value for your dollar. I have, on rare occasions, pulled out an okra that was left on the stock too long and was too tough to eat, but that is an exception rather than the rule. and the jars are huge. They don't offer any spicy okra that I'm aware of, so I just throw in a couple of chilies or maybe some whole garlic cloves and problem solved. I usually buy three at a time. They are a great nutritious and low calorie snack rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants.
It is the best quality okra on market and I have tried every brand . And it's not as salty as the other brands. In addition I wash them off in a strainer to get the salt off and it works great. You can wash a little or a lot depending on your taste preferences. It's also half or more of the price of others. The only con is it comes in big jars but for me it's not a problem as I love it.The other con is that Walmart uses contract. Almost every order delivered from them is a problem either damaged , no show or they leave it in wrong place
I love Old South products so I ordered the 3 pack of 64oz pickled okra for $17°°. Fantastic deal! Waiting for my order only to have it delayed 4 times. Now 9 days later they cancel my order as they are out of stock. Which I understand supply %26 demand. What I don't get is them saying they are out of that product, so the "company" made the choice to cancel my order....only to put it back as $22.99 per 64oz jar. I understand the need for profit, I get it. But what the company chose to do, how they handled it was very bad customer service. And that in itself is a shame!
The ad says 3 jars and I only received 2. One of the 2 had a broken seal and had leaked inside the bag it was packed in and had to be thrown away since the seal was broken. It appears that FedEx knew the items were broken and repacked the remaining jars in a "FedEx" box that was totally dry. I will think twice before having Walmart ship anything else. Please refund my money for the 2/3 jars that I am unable to eat.
The jars are not packed correctly for shipping and the sellers agreement with their shipping (FEDEX) company causes more issues than it helps. The taste, when the jar is not shattered or opened in transit, is pretty good. The price, if you get the whole order, is very good when you order multiple jars at a time. I ordered three and they never arrived. I found out later they were broken in shipment. It took a while but I was able to get my refund from Walmart. The next order was for 6 jars. 3 showed up useable, 2 showed up with the seals broken and the juice gone and one was missing in action. The labels all smelled of pickled Okra and they were riddled with scuffs and scratches from rolling around in broken glass. The shipping container was a repack from FEDEX and it was packaged well. I was never told of any of the delays/damages in transit. I had to read through the shipping logs. I am not going through this again. I just wont order from this vendor anymore. They do not know how to pack heavy glass jars.
