I drink Samarta flavor coffee for it low acid and big bold roast and flavor. Petes is the best. Samarta is a small batch coffee. This is done toget the correct roast. give it a try if you like biv bold task with out all the acid that typically bothers your stomach.
I like Sumatra because it has a stronger flavor to stand up to making a latte. Folks, make sure you are using enough coffee grounds. All these years I've been wrong in measuring. One tablespoon of coffee grounds only makes 1/2 cup of coffee. Since most folks have one FULL cup of coffee as their serving, two tablespoons of coffee are needed. Next, and most important, I'm trying to find out if Peet's on-line offers the Semi-Freddies biscotti.
I've been drinking Peet's Coffee since I lived in Menlo Park (1980s). I have never had to pay the price I'm paying now! I love the coffee but may have to find an alternative. The cost is too much and I know why...tarrifs. I get it, but I'm sure your CEO is making billions...give Amercans a break for once!
Sumatra and Sumatra Decaf have been our preferred whole bean coffee purchases for years. To us, unsophisticated consumers, there aren't specific "notes" in the coffee. Sumatra just tastes like, uh, good coffee. When we have something different such as a Peet's "not Sumatra" like Major Dickason's or a McDonald's (just okay, will do in a pinch), then get home to make a carafe of Sumatra, yep, it's better.
I started a new job a couple of years ago and they drank other brands of coffee. I introduced them to Peet's Sumatra and now this is the daily go-to! Someone tried to make another brand and the murmurs were "What's up with the coffee today?" "Something is wrong with the coffee." "Who made the coffee?" LOL! I knew what happened and fixed the problem. We cannot go a day without our Peet's Sumatra!
i LOVE PEETS Sumatra but this is the SECOND time i have ordered three packs that when packed/shipped, have had one of the bags inside split with half a bag of coffee filling the box. so in reality i paid for 6 bags but only received FIVE
Another really good dark roast by Peet's. The taste and body of this Sumatra really came alive after it mellowed out for a week after opening the bag. Would buy again.
We have ordered Sumatra for years… it's bold, rich and delicious! A coffee you can taste!! The subtle deliciousness of Decaf Sumatra is an afternoon delight, too…both make a superb Irish coffee!
We've been buying Peets for decades, probably 40 years, and Sumatra specifically for probably 20. We often buy Sumatra mail order when we're out of the Bay Area. This batch (3 lbs) was ground very coarsely, with whole beans visible, and the coffee itself tasted quite different from the normal Sumatra taste. Something went south on this order... not normal Peets quality or flavor
I thought the flavor of the Sumatra was pretty flat. It was okay, but not very interesting, and to my taste it lacked nuance. This is probably due to its being only one bean, rather than a blend. It lacked the depth I hoped for. On the other hand, dealing with Peet's continues to be a good experience, as it has been since my first cup of coffee purchased in their original store in Berkeley in the early '80s. Always a pleasure.
