My daughter and I collect glas jars. We have bought literally a hundred of these through the years. I always come back to this brand for all of my needs. I store everything in them. Herbs, lotions, oils, coins , beads.. you name it this jar is perfect for literally everything! It is thick glass, definitely not thin.
The lid a a very good rubber seal and it fits on the jar snuggly so im sure it will not leak if it gets laid on its side or what i purchased it for is to make Uncle Dan's buttermilk salad dressing which requres a large jar just like this one. For the great low price i paid i would recommend this jar.
It's a good mason jar. Sometimes the lid doesn't screw on perfectly so I have to retry it another time or two. But it waa a good price and the shipping/delivery came right to my door which made it really convenient. I liked that I could just buy one and not made to buy more than that.
The top is a regular screw on top. It's not like a mason jar top. It's not as thick as a mason jar either. It will do for now to house my vanilla sugar.
I HIGHLY DOUBT these are "food safe". After washing them twice, including with isopropyl alcohol, they maintain a chemical odor on the inside. The lids all arrived dented, some more than others, so they don't have a good seal. The lids are the cheapest metal I've ever seen. These are good for storing parts but that's about it. I really recommend not eating out of these things or storing food in them. I was going to return it but Walmart makes it such a hassle that it isn't worth the $2. I've had other quality control issues with Plaid products (the manufacturer of these jars), so this will be the last time I purchase anything from their brand.
As I opened the lid, I noticed it had mold around the rim of the top. I forgot I had just bought it, and thought it was an old jar of us (because I didn't think about the fact that it was new until the day I tried to use it) and unsuccessfully attempted bleach the mold out, before I realized it was new, and I had bought ir only a couple days before. If I had realized that before, I would have just taken it back. The picture is after I had attempted to bleach it, so the biggest moldy area was already gone.
Hoping I just got one faulty jar. I was stirring flour and water with a spoon and a glass whole broke right out of it. I was not stirring hard at all.
The jar was fine until broke. I was stirring milk with a plastic spatula and a whole popped right through the center of the glass. Would not purchase again.
It arrived in many pieces. Will be returning to the store asap. I'm not opening it till I get to the service desk but I can bet it wasn't bubble wrapped smh
I don't know anything about the jar!because when I received it I accidentally Dropped It before I even opened it! I am so disappointed %26 discussed with Myself! I reordered it to see what it is like! I hardly ever drop things %26 this drop it just had to be %26 happened to be Glass!
