Before I found these delicious hint of lime chips, I use to add freshly squeezed lime juice to my tortilla chips. But unfortunately South Dakota's limes and Southern California's limes do not taste the same. Hint of lime chips are absolutely delicious. They have a nice crunch and make a great chip for dipping into cheesy black beans.
Love them for snacks, but I've discovered they are perfect for the base of a Mexican bowl meal. I always used rice, but lime Tostitos add just the right crunch and punch of flavor! Broken chips, taco flavored meat, cheese, fresh corn, chopped tomatoes, your choice of fresh greens. Top it off with Ranch, salsa, or a combination. So yummy!!
I bought these chips to use when I make guacamole, but it ended up that the chips had a little bit of salt on them making my guacamole better than normal. It's almost like you could have these chips alone. I'm used to having tortilla chips as dips, but I can easily just have these alone
Lime flavor seemed a bit more than a “hint” worth for the first few bites. then diminished down once my tastebuds were saturated. And it's not like the sharp flavor of lime juice but rather the somewhat dull flavor of citrus based dry rubs. Paired well with some sour cream chili dip.
I love the hint of lime on each tortilla chip! It's not too much where it's too limey but it's just the right amount to help bring it the flavors of what you're eating with. Even if you're eating the tortilla chips by themselves! It's also not that salty!
I have always like Tostitos corn chips because they're light and crispy. They remind me of chips at some of the better Mexican restaurants in the Houston area. When they introduced the hint of lime, I was hooked. I love the extra bit tang that adds to the already great chip.
The lime flavor and salt combo is addictive. I make up a dip with easy melting cheese and no salt Rotel by combining the 2 and heat it ib the microwave about 5 minutes. 1 can to 16 ozs. of cubed cold cheese as its easier to cut when cold. Its pretty good.
These chips do are lightly salty. Yes, they are advertised as hint of lime but theres very little lime zest to them. I did purchase 3 bags to stock up on and all 3 bags had chips that were broken into 1 to 2 inch pieces. i suppose thats ok if you are dipping into salsa and dont mind your hands getting messy but if you are purchasing for a gathering or party...if you want more salt and lime flavor. .go with the name brand.
We usually love all different chips, but am sorry to say that these just aren't to our taste. I hate to complain because I know others really love them, but we thought the lime flavor was too artificial, and wished we had bought our usual Tostitos round chips. It's fun to try new tastes though!
I didn't order this product. It was a substitute that I did not approve of. I have called three times to try to get refunded on it. This is stuff I will never eat and I think it's ridiculous that they substituted it for something that I didn't even order.
