for subwoofer drum type noise a denser then plastic material needed. Adding more solid ear plug almost blocks that. Maybe enough to sleep. Otherwise, maybe untried battery ear plugs ANC = acoustic noise cancelling might work ??

Knocks the noise down at least about 80%. Comfortable. Adjusts right to size and holds firmly to head but not too tight. Price is good too. I owned another pair of these these already but lost them so without hesitation I bought these as replacement.

These are comfortable and work well. I wear a size large in adult hats and they fit me. I think another reviewer mentioned something about fit, but they are adjustable. I bought these to wear to an aquafit class because I do not like the music the instructor plays. I can also wear them around the house to block out noise made by family members when I want peace. At this price they are a good addition to any household.

Fit the kids great to help with projects, good sound blocking and comfortable

Got these for mowing. They work very well for my use, but they are a little tight on the sides of my head. I guess that's needed for keeping the noise out, though. Below are a few things I wondered about before buying these, although I decided for the price I'd give them a try without knowing ahead of time. Glasses: My wife said her wire frame glasses worked okay with the earmuffs but her plastic frame glasses didn't allow a good enough seal (they still help, just not as much). I don't wear glasses when mowing so I had to rely on my wife's input. Music: I was able to use small bluetooth earbuds inside the earmuffs and could hear music well with volume on iPhone near or just above the middle. I might have been able to go lower on volume but I like my music pretty loud, so I'll probably keep the volume nearer the top most of the time. Without the earmuffs I turned the volume all the way up and still had difficulty hearing music-- sometimes I couldn't even tell what song was playing. I use low-cost Uniojo brand earbuds (about $20). AirPods and others with a dangly stem might hang too low to fit all the way inside the earmuffs but I can't be sure since I only use cheapo earbuds. Singing: I like to sing while mowing. With the earmuffs and my earbuds I noticed my own singing (from within my head, not through the earmuffs) more than without the earmuffs. With my earbud volume up pretty far, I was able to drown out most of my singing unless I was really bellowing it out. That's a good thing, since hearing your own singing from inside your head isn't as pleasant as through your ear canals. Color: I wish these were white because the sun heated these up a bit and a lighter color might keep them a little less hot. I might try to cover the headband with something white and paint the earmuff parts if I have some spare white paint in the garage. Hats: I was able to wear a ballcap under the earmuffs, but not a bucket hat. The bucket hat had too much material at the top for the band to go across well and too much material on the sides at the ears. It might have fit with the earmuffs over it, but the hat would have been wadded up in places, so a ballcap was the better choice for fit. The bucket hat wouldn't fit over the earmuffs (neither would the ball cap). Effectiveness: I found these to be great for mowing. I haven't used them for anything else. Of course they didn't cut all mower sound out, and no earmuffs could since sound travels into and through other parts of the body besides just the ear canals (I could tell a difference when I opened my mouth, for example-- like when singing along to my music!). The lower frequency sounds from my mower were more obvious than higher pitch sounds, but not so obvious that I couldn't enjoy music. I wasn't expecting a symphony hall experience. I just wanted to keep a large portion of the mower sound out to help prevent hearing loss and to be able to listen to oldies while mowing. I wish I had bought something like this years ago. There could be more effective earmuffs out there, but these do what I wanted for a very low cost. Mowing takes a couple of hours with my riding mower plus another 30-60 minutes with a push mower and gives me time to enjoy music and sing as loud as I want without bothering others. The earmuffs with my earbuds will make mowing even more enjoyable.

These over the ear protection are very good. They don't block out 100% of sound, however they significantly reduce noise (tv, screaming, loud voices, etc) and distraction enough so that you can hear yourself think. I highly recommend this product.

Found these on clearance for $7 and decided to see if they would work on my kids. They fit my 6 year old pretty well and he said they muffled the sound good. They are a little big on my 3 year old but they work. Cant beat paying $7 compared to other ones for kids at $20

They are very uncomfortable. They have no extension and make the ears hurt

I bought this for ear protection while cutting a lot of brick pavers on a backyard project at home. It worked great for sound protection...until 2 months in one of the flimsy little things that attach to one of the earmuffs broke (see photos). I wasn't using this every day, and was not doing anything crazy, so would have expected it to last longer. Would not buy again.
