you need a drill. a drill makes it easier and it comes with the drill attachment. headlights pretty bad. before you put on the clear coat whipe turn on your lights. I found I needed to polish more. after each sanding wet a cloth and whipe lights looking for evenness of sanding.
Liked that could attach it to a drill. I was not looking forward to scrubbing like other kits. I didn’t have to the drill did all the work. It took some time, but it actually worked . My headlights are a little brighter. Big change from before. It’s not perfect but it’s worth the time and money. Give it a try
Auto Repair shop was going to charge me $140 for head light restoration. My car failed inspection due to the head lights being too cloudy. This kit was a fraction of the cost, and did an excellent job. The head lights ended up looking close to brand new, and they're 16 years old. Follow the instructions and this product is well worth the money. It will take about 45m-1 hour to complete and requires a drill.
It works, but it's a little more time-consuming because you're using a power drill with three different sanding grades. One of my headlights would never look clear due to oxidation. Other products provided only one hand-held sander. The 3M kit has three different sanding grits that attach to a power drill, which makes a huge difference when taking off very compact oxidation.
Very good DIY project. I don't know how long it will last, but I know it restores the headlights to crystal clear and new status. I would definitely use again. No problems using whatsoever. Be sure you know how to use a real electric drill, not a cordless drill, because it won't have the RPMs to remove the old surface gunk from the headlights. 100% user approved. I'm going to try it on another vehicle to see if it will duplicate the same results.
I am in my 70's and had never tried to do something like this before, but when the auto dealer wanted over $200 to restore the foggy headlights on my paid-for model 2013 vehicle, I decided to take a chance and try it on my own. Directions were clear, the kit was easy to use, and after less than 2 hours, my headlights look new! WOW - what a great product!
While this treatment can take some time to do it right - it is definitely worth it! I saw immediately that my headlights went from completely clouded to looking brand new! Fan-frickin'-tastic! Buy this BEFORE paying $$ for a service. My friend did most of the "sanding" but it did not look too hard for this old lady to handle on her own and I think he just wanted to have all the fun! So, ladies (and guys too), use that new drill driver doohickey you have in the garage and take your lights from cloudy day gray to bright and sparkling in less than 90 minutes. Now iI feel safer driving at night - what a difference!
This is best $15 dollars I spent all week! I didn't have much hope for the headlamps being restored on my 2008 car, but the results were fantastic. It did take a few hours and there was a little learning curve to getting the swing of the sanding, but the outcome was well worth it. Almost as good as new. Can't recommend enough!
It's hard to sand with the backing plate being a little warped or the shaft was bent. This was the second one with a bad backing plate. 3M does have the best sand paper but if you get a warped backing plate they need to add more sand paper, cause I had to purchase more to finish the job. It's still better than sanding by hand.
the box was beat up and didn't contain all the parts listed. it looks like it was a returned box missing all the items. it contained no 800 grit sand paper. if i felt better i would return it. thankd Hank
