Very good DIY project. I don’t know how long it will last, but I know it restores the headlights to crystal clear and new status. I would definitely use again. No problems using whatsoever. Be sure you know how to use a real electric drill, not a cordless drill, because it won’t have the RPMs to remove the old surface gunk from the headlights. 100% user approved. I’m going to try it on another vehicle to see if it will duplicate the same results.
This is best $15 dollars I spent all week! I didn't have much hope for the headlamps being restored on my 2008 car, but the results were fantastic. It did take a few hours and there was a little learning curve to getting the swing of the sanding, but the outcome was well worth it. Almost as good as new. Can't recommend enough!
I purchased this for my 2001 Silverado 3500 Truck. It was easy-to-use and it worked great. The top headlight was fogged over like the bottom turn signal light is. This attached pic shows top headlight after using the 3M ultra headlight restoration kit.
I used this on both headlights of two cars. I just put the clear coat wipes in a ziplock bag when prepping the second car. Both cars were 2002 so the lenses desperately needed some love. This worked amazing! Would purchase again! I am concerned about the longevity of the clear coat simply because it came in wipe form but even if it only lasts a couple years it would be would worth it!
It’s time consuming but this kit ACTUALLY works unlike a lot of the other kits on the market. Will buy again if I ever need another kit. Pics included of the one headlight done vs the other one not done yet.
The kit was easy to use and follow. There was a significant improvement. My headlights are fairly large so I believe 1 kit per light would have yielded perfect results as I went through the sand paper quickly.
It really worked! Follow instructions completely. Use every sanding disc in order and until it wears out.
My daughter used it on my very cloudy headlights. It did a great job to make them look brand new. It is improved the nighttime visibility considerably.
Absolutely happy with the results! The headlights are transparent! This kit definitely works! See photos before and after. . I spent approximately 2.5-3 hours. Good quality, good price, fast delivery. I would very much recommend this product and Walmart as a store!
This 3M Ultra Headlight restoring kit is good, but could be better. Here is what I found. The kit came with all of the items shown in the listing, but not with enough of some of it. I drive a 2015 Chevy diesel and it has 4 large lights. There was certainly enough sandpaper to do two of them, but I was using paper that I had on hand by the time I got to the 3rd one. Fortunately I already had some of the 3” size in the grits needed. In fact, while the finest they provide is 3000 grit, I had some 5000, 7000 and some cerium oxide with a grit of 17,500. I used them and the lights looked new before even using the wipes. But don’t use that info to discourage you from buying this kit. What they provide does what it is supposed to. I was just playing around to see what finer grit did. I saved one of the 4 lights and used just what was provided in the kit. And while the lights where I used the finer stuff looked better before the wipes, after the wipes I could not tell a difference. And the wipes had plenty of ‘juice’ to do all 4 lights just fine. So the kit will make them look just as good as if you used finer grit. It is a good kit. So then, why only 4 stars. There were two things that contributed to that. One I have already mentioned, and that is that there was not enough sandpaper for my job. On the listing I did not see where they went to the trouble to warn you that if you have large lights you will need two kits. They don’t provide that info until you have bought the kit and opened up the instructions. Then, in more than one spot they mention the likelihood of needing two kits after you buy one and open it. For 10-15 cents they could have made sure that there was enough sandpaper for whatever vehicle you have. And the other issue is the quality of the backer pad for the sandpaper. The hook-loop feature of the sandpaper is so strong that it pulled the hook pad off of the backer pad instead of pulling the paper off of the hook pad. So they need a stronger bond between the hook pad and the backer, or weaker hook-loop sandpaper. This may sound like I was not satisfied with this kit. That is far from true. It was easy to use. It had good instructions, it did a great job, and as you can see in the before and after pics, my headlights look awesome. (Ignore the amber parts of the lights. I did not do them because I was trying to keep from buying two kits.) And to finish, I think that this kit is probably as good as any out there. It was fairly priced. It did a great job. I would use it again, and will almost certainly buy some more of the 3M wipes. One small caution about them though. They caution you not to press down when using the wipes. Don’t ignore that caution. If you press down it runs like when you put too much paint on something you are painting. And the instructions also say to not touch it up while wet. So I had runs and a caution. I ignored the touch up caution and with a light wipe, I was able to get rid of the runs.
