In our family my macaroni and cheese is a big deal. I make it from scratch, mix the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni, put half the mix into a casserole dish, add a layer of crushed bread crumbs/potato chips and shredded cheese, layer the other half on top and repeat the process adding a last layer of shredded cheese 10 minutes before it's done. With all that work going into it I'm not going to skimp on the pasta. Barilla has just enough chew to it to give it a firm texture which my family loves, especially my eldest son. He's vegetarian and also has braces which limits what he can comfortably and ethically eat. I've never gotten any complaints about any of the Barilla pasta I've served over the years whether it be lasagna, rotini, linguini - you name it, they love it. All you need to add is a vegetable and maybe some garlic bread and you've got a meal to be proud of. I always purchase extra when it's on sale and donate it to our local food pantry with a jar of pasta sauce. It's relatively inexpensive and provides a needy family with a good nutritious meal.
Good value! Versatile, I cook them often! Make them many different ways, with beans, or lentils, or with tomato sauce, or salsa, or your favorite dressing. Many ways to use them, limited only by your culinary imagination! When dog food cost more than people food, I share what I cook with the doggies
Hello from Florida! Barilla's Elbow Pasta is my favorite. As my family's home chef, I cook a lot. Yes, I use the Great Value brand of Elbow Pasta most often, but when I want to make a next-level macaroni %26cheese (with lots of good cheeses), I purchase this box of Elbow pasta, because it had nice ridges in it that the sauce adheres to even better. I use it in my Italian dishes when I want to impress, and I use it to make pasta salads, and macaroni salads. There is a difference, and when you have an extra dollar or so to spend, buy the Barilla brand.
We love Barilla everything. It is our favorite pasta. I hate mushy pasta and Barilla is so easy to cook to al dente. The elbow macaroni even has ridges to hold on to the sauce so it doesn't just run off. It costs a tiny bit more than some others but it is worth it.
These are always consistently good. In the decades I've been using them, I've never had a bad batch. They're not the same as freshly made, but, for Store Bought, they're really good.
So versatile! Make them many different ways, with lentils, with beans, with salsa, or tomato sauce, macaroni salad (dressing of choice), even Vegan macaroni with nutritional yeast!
i like these noodles be cause they are not enriched. duram wheat products are healthier since the good stuff hasn't been stripped out and replaced with fake enrichment.
A great pasta type product. Add any of your favorite flavorings like butter, chicken or beef bouillon or anything else and this product swells up in that solution and absorbs the flavors , and makes a ton of food for many people to enjoy. Using a small amount of this product goes a long way. A microwave oven is great for preparing this product quickly , or let it soak in a bowl in the refrigerator overnight and its ready to add your flavors, then just warm it a couple of minutes in the microwave.
The difference in these noodles is that they are significantly better than any I have tried; mainly because the sauce of my casseroles grabs on and sinks into the ridges. Also the thinner quality is great as they are not as heavy; resulting in a more restaurant quality outcome in every way. My cheese and mac homemade oven bake never tasted so good. For any recipe you use with elbows, I am certain you will find these a cut way above others!
We avoid folic acid (synthetic version of folate) like the plague. I only ordered this because the ingredients list only shows wheat flour. It didn't say ENRICHED flour (as it should, as the synthetic garbage "vitamins" are added to it) or I wouldn't have bought it. I'm returning it.
