I made several pies for Christmas before a guest requested lemon meringue pie. The pudding for the filling takes a long time to make so I searched for a shortcut. Jello brand Cook and Serve Lemon was sold out. But this lemon pudding was nearby. I couldn't get over it, canned pudding? So I decided to try it. I could smell the lemon flavor when opening it. Tasting it though, lacked the tartness I am use to. After adding 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, the flavor was perfect. The texture of the pudding was thick enough for a pie, maybe a little too thick but the lemon juice fixed that as well. The can had instructions on how to put a pie together with this pudding. I was grateful for that because homemade pudding is usually hot when I add it to a pie shell %26 top it with meringue. It made a beautiful dessert and I was pleased with the outcome. There are 2 ways to improve this product. 1) make it tart. 2) put another 1/4 cup of pudding in the can to fill a 9” pie plate to the top. My meringue looked lacking because most of it was below the top, where extra pudding should be. Overall, this canned pudding gave my guest the flavor he wanted. And not one person asked me what I did different to the Lemon Meringue Pie this year.
This is wonderful lemon filling. Not too sweet and not too tart. I used it between layers of a white cake for my mom's birthday. Rave reviews. Making the same cake for my dad's birthday next week. My family absolutely loved it. They said the cake was refreshing and tasty.
I bought this to make a lemon dump cake and it tastes just like a lemon struesel on steroids! Very delicious - you only need 1 moist yellow cake mix, cream cheese and butter and this can of lemon pie filling! Very easy to make and takes no time at all! It's also good with many different lemon recipes of your choice! I love this lemon pie filling!
Thank you Walmart, this is the only place I could find this product in my area. I am using it in a dessert recipe.
I will always have a can of Comstock lemon crème on hand for quick, delicious desserts. The flavor is perfect.
When Walmart has lemon pie filling - I pie a lot - store seems to be out a lot!
Great taste! Used this for lemon pie and a thin topper on individual cheesecakes and it was a hit! I love the lemon flavor and will definitely buy again.
This is the only lemon filing that has just the right amount of tartness without an overload of sweetness to make lemon meringue pies unbelievable delicious!!! Tried other brands and this one is the best by far!!! 🍋
Love lemon, love this brand, it gets five stars. Walmart gets NO stars because they don't carry it in store at all. I have to find it on line and buy in quantity to get a decent price.
Did not set up in my pie crust. Filling oozes into empty space after a piece of pie is cut out. Please let me know if I'm using it wrong. I ended up throwing the pie in the trash. It was a mess. Flavor was off. Tasted like it was over the expiration date. I didn't take any pics.
