I like the Walmart, pink salmon. I use it to make salmon cakes. Mix, flour, eggs, salt, and pepper. I fry them in a little bit of oil. I usually do two cans at a time. After I have fried them and let them drain. I wrap them individually and put them in the freezer. Then I get out one at a time when I want to eat one. They are good with apple butter or to just eat plain. I always enjoy my salmon cakes.
I think I buy the star kiss I think maybe it's chicken of the sea in the mylar bags I think it's chicken of the sea so anyway I like it like that I like salmon patties now these cans I buy for to share with my cat and my dog and cuz I don't really like the can because of the the black skin on the fish you know that I don't like it I don't like picking this the soft bones out either but I got the Great Value it was really fishy smelling salmon but it was a nice look like real salmon cuz it should be a certain color and it was the right color so I just put some out for my dog and then I put some up for my little cat and you know that's why I got the cans and it looked okay to me but I just don't like the cans because of the skin on the salmon I like to get the Milo bag where it's you know it's nice and chopped up and clean to make my salmon patties but these cans I give a share to the dog and the cat they need that good for their coat
Before opening the can, it was important to note that this product was packed in Alaska. After opening the can, the odor was of fresh canned salmon WITHOUT any of the decomposing fishy smell that similar canned salmon TYPICALLY has when caught and packed in the asian countries.
This "generic" canned salmon is just as good, if not better, as the more expensive brands. At this price, I can get twice the amount for the same price as one of bumblebee. My family loves it and has never noticed a difference from what we used to buy before pricea became what they are now.
Very tasteful salmon as good as the more expensive brands. You do need to remove some bones but that is part of the process. I make and fry patties with this salmon and they are delicious. I also add some to my salad and enjoy eating more healthy food.
I don't know if something's wrong with me - maybe I was a cat in a past life? - but I love this stuff. I open a can, add a fork, put it in the fridge, and just nibble every time I go by there. Lots of tasty protein, and if I had the money I'd keep my pantry stocked with this stuff. And crackers and cheese.
Both cans of salmon I ordered were severely dented. Please do not bring severely dented cans for home delivery, whether of salmon or anything else--there is a danger of food poisoning. Put them on the bargain rack and let customers decide whether to take a calculated risk.
The salmon itself is fine, although it is being packed with more skin than it used to be. I would like to see a return to more meat %26 less skin. The packaging was awful - nearly all of the cans were severely dented, so maybe a bit more care when product is being packed.
I buy canned salmon because we love salmon stew. it's full of amazing omega 3s. however, I tried the great value brand and I was so disappointed. it was full of bones and skin. I've had Aldi, double Q...all great with barely any discard (we don't like the skin or bones), but the GV brand had so many that I ended up having to use 3 cans instead of my normal 2. with the price of groceries it makes this salmon way more expensive than the others..unless you like the skin and bones, then this is for you. blegh!
Worst salmon I've ever had!!! There were more bones in the can that there was meat! I bought it after having another brand that I really enjoyed, thinking this would be a healthy snack/meal for a good price. I've never been more disappointed in my life!!! EEEWWWWW
