It is great in my coffee, last couple weeks the price was raised to $2.60 something, so I skipped buying it, then the price went back down to $2.12 SO I could afford it again. Thank you Walmart for trying so hard to keep your prices down, so more people can afford to shop here.
This is delicious Coconut Milk! I haven't used it for smoothies I need a new blender but it's great for cooking rice or drinking. Nutritionally very good for your hair. Yummy as creamer in coffee or mixed into desserts! The consistency is rich and thick but smooth. For people who need a milk substitute also I recommend it!
This Great Value coconut milk is smooth with no clumps. I used it to make coconut filling for chocolate-coated coconut Easter eggs. It has a good subtle coconut flavor with little visible brown specs of the coconut. I use to buy a different brand, but not anymore. Great Value coconut milk will be our go-to from now on.
I bought this can of Great Value coconut milk because I was in the middle of making a Thai green curry and realized I was out. The 13.5 fl oz size is pretty standard, and the price was about half of what the name brand costs, so I figured it was worth a shot. The first thing I noticed when I opened the can is that the coconut milk inside was completely separated. The top layer was thick, solid cream, almost like butter, and the bottom was clear, watery liquid. That is actually a good sign—it means there are no weird emulsifiers or gums keeping it artificially mixed. But you absolutely have to shake the can before opening, and even then, you will need to stir it vigorously in the pan. The texture after mixing is rich and smooth. It has a nice, full-bodied mouthfeel that coats the spoon. The flavor is clean and distinctly coconut, but it's not overly sweet. It tastes like real coconut, not like coconut-flavored candy. It worked beautifully in my curry, adding a creamy richness that balanced the heat from the chili paste. Here's my one complaint. The can does not have a pull-tab lid, so you need a can opener. That's a minor inconvenience, but worth knowing if you are camping or don't have a working opener. Also, the separation means that if you only need half a can for a recipe, you have to mix the whole thing first and then measure out what you need. I ended up using the leftover coconut milk in a smoothie the next day and it was delicious. I'm hoping that the quality stays consistent from can to can, because for a budget option, this one did exactly what I needed it to do. Good coconut flavor at a great price, just bring a whisk and a can opener Reliable for curries, just shake it like it owes you money
I just did a taste test for 3 separate coconut milk brands. One of them from a major grocery store was much cheaper. The taste was excellent and worked in my smoothie very well, but it was not very thick. It was about water thick. This Great Value brand of coconut milk was tasty and much thicker. It works very well in a smoothie. I use bananas, strawberries, pears, peaches, and pineapple slices. This Great Value coconut milk adds that last extra taste and texture. It's very creamy and has a nice flavor. I will probably be buying this again.
Just a staple I wish to have in my pantry due to recipes requiring coconut milk. It's a little pricey for the amount. Use to eat fresh coconut and drink the milk growing up came to an end with the diseases affectively killing all of our palms. sad. So yes, understand the higher price. Don't have to like it.
Use this product for recipes thanks to the cost compared to other brands. But it does not match others I have used before in taste or texture. The cellulose used to thicken/add weight to the can, sits at the bottom. My solution will work, but I truly wonder if it matters much when used for baking. For any other use, take a minute to shake the can vigorously before pouring! Who knows how long that can has sat on the shelf before you purchased it!
Every single can I was given had a huge dent in it.
Can is all dented.
I opened the can I just picked up 3 days ago to use in a recipe I make frequently and it smelled like tuna. A sign that it's rancid. The exp date wasn't until 2027. Just spend the extra few dollars and buy the name brand, and save time having to drive and buy another can that is not rancid.
