I don't buy Hamburger Helper I make my own and this is the noodles I use or if I want to make homemade macaroni and cheese these are the noodles I use or tuna helper I use these noodles or if I just want to dump some tomato juice in them I need them like that taste great
I bought this because it saves space in the pantry. Instead of buying 2 or 3 boxes of the 2 lbs. boxes, I buy this in for the same price but takes less space.
Great price for three pounds of elbows. I use these to prepare my Great Value Deluxe Mac 'n Cheese. I find there's too much sauce for the amount of macaroni so I remove the cheese packet and fill the box with these elbows, and for me this is perfect proportion. Just a suggestion.
I know people that claim they taste difference in pasta qualities. I am not one of them, and am I totally convinced that it is just in there heads for the most part. That said, I love these elbows. I am not a huge fan of most pasta dishes and I tend to convert almost all of them into some sort of elbow macaroni dish LOL I can say without any doubt in my mind that I love the homemade mac and cheese I make from scratch; I love the spaghetti I make from scratch using these noodle; and I love the chili mac that I make from scratch using these elbows. Those are my most common thing IO make, but not the only things. I can not think of any dish that I used where they did not work exactly as intended. They are simply a great versatile pasta at a great price.
This is another top-notch pasta product they say that it is all the same well as a cook for a living I beg to differ there as there is a difference but this one hangs in the top 5 on the market and far cheaper on the price point so you are getting best both great value with a product that holds up
Cheap pasta. I use this when I just want a pasta dish and the pasta is the least of the ingredients, it doesn't need to shine. If the pasta is the main flavor then I would buy Dececco.
If you're buying the Top Name Brand, you're wasting your money, you're only paying for a name. We've been buying Great Value since we realized that, try the smallest box. If you like it, then buy this 3lb. box, well worth every penny. Use this in your own meals with vegetables or a side dish like homemade Mac N Cheese
As the home chef for my family of 7, I make a lot of home-made food for the meals. Macaroni and Cheese is a staple in my house, making it once or twice a month. I always use the Great Value brand of Elbow Pasta, as I spend a lot of money on my meals, and this purchase saves me money, as opposed to buying any of the name brands for the same thing. Other than macaroni %26 cheese, I use it for pasta salads, veggie soup and macaroni salad. Very versatile and tastes delicious.
They look, taste, & cook up like any regular kind. Add some oil while cooking to prevent sticking or clumping. Add a little salt to raise the boiling point of water so it cooks faster. A quart of water & macaroni cooks up in a small 700 watt microwave in 4 or 5 minutes stopping to stir every couple minutes, then let sit outside the microwave for 3-4 more minutes, stirring after 2 minutes, to finish softening. The starch in the noodles will make it boil over easier. If your tap water wasn't very cold or you have a more powerful microwave boiling may occur sooner. So watch it cook. Maybe place a plate underneath in case it does boil over, so you don't mess up the oven. When it boils, stop, stir, & cook at 30-60 second intervals a couple more times, until the whole mixture is super steaming hot. Noodles may still be a little firm, when finished. It will cook the rest of the way just sitting there stirring occasionally in a few minutes. Add a little more oil (I use canola because it's cheap, healthy, & has no weird tastes), stir & fluff the noodles up before storing the leftovers in the fridge or you'll have a noodle cake the next day.
Great price for 9lbs of pasta! It was supposed to be 12lbs originally, but store only had 3 boxes left. I bought it for my emergency supplies/prepping/preparedness. Will definitely buy more later. Pasta has a long shelf life.
