Good broth taste (as broths go). Cheap.

Anonymous December 15, 2025

This is a low-salt variety, so obviously lower saltiness. I get the no-salt variety when available, and then add what amount salt I prefer while cooking. I don't care for over-salted food that hides flavor, but my family likes more salt. As for taste, broths don't have much; however, I've had Swanson, and this tastes very similar. There are other brands of broths that are far more limp on flavor, so this is a good second and cheaper choice to Swanson.

Good Tasting Chicken Broth. Low Sodium A

OW April 17, 2026

I wasn't aware that this product was available . I have been purchasing the GV Unsalted Beef Broth and then I found the Chicken Broth. I like using both products in my recipes. Who needs a ton of salt in their foods? In my household we try cutting down on sodium and processed foods. Not because we are health nuts just because we know none of it is good for you. If I can't make my own broth I always have GV Broths in my pantry.

Be advised: this is not a reduced sodium chicken broth as the title states but rather these are UNSALTED as shown in the picture. But that's exactly what I wanted, and the Great Value taste far surpasses ANY boxed Chicken Broth I've ever bought. Definitely recommend this product, especially if you're on a strict low salt low fat diet OR if you just want to control your sodium intake by adding your own seasonings/salt.

My Secret Weapon in the Kitchen: The Mighty "Chicken Water" There are staples in my pantry that I can't live without, but one product, in particular, holds a special, almost revered place: the large size chicken broth. Now, I know what you're thinking—broth is broth. But for me, this isn't just a cooking liquid; it's the foundation of flavor, the je ne sais quoi that elevates an average meal to something truly comforting and delicious. Affectionately, I call it "chicken water."

Good Product, but BAD DESCRIPTION

Jonathan February 2, 2026

The box states "Unsalted", but the description on the webpage reads "Reduced Sodium". This is NOT "reduced sodium" -- it is "unsalted"; the "reduced sodium" product has A LOT of sodium, this has almost none. The incorrect description probably puts-off many shoppers.

Difficult to find in stock (no pun intended)

James December 15, 2025

My go to and favorite of all the unsalted broths by great value… the only negative is the availability as can only find beef now which is not always the flavor of choice. Also great value needs to offer an unsalted vegetable broth. How hard is that?

It's unsalted. Picture/description mix up

DianeW October 20, 2025

I order the low sodium all the time to use to make soup and it's fine. This time however, on the app the description states low sodium, but the picture shows unsalted. You will receive the unsalted version. If you're ordering online and prefer low sodium, choose a different brand for now.

I use this broth as a fasting beverage like hospitals use both when one is on a liquid diet. To avoid allergic reactions from other brands that contain tomato based products this broth allows me to enjoy it without annoying side affects. I also use it for soups, stews, and gravies.

This chicken broth is labeled as "reduced" sodium, yet the sodium level sits at 530mg per serving, and there are 4 servings per container. Regular is 830mg, which is huge, so there is some reduction. However, the reduction is not enough to make much difference for anyone watching their sodium intake. The body needs no more than 500mg per day for normal electrolyte balancing. On the other hand, I can recommend highly GV's unsalted chicken broth as it contains just 43mg of sodium per serving. This level is the lowest of the unsalted chicken broth brands.

Tastes like water, not broth

Anonymous June 16, 2026

I'm always trying to find healthier options for my cooking. I usually buy reduced sodium, but decided to try this. It's a "no" for me. This tasted like pure water, no flavor of chicken at all. Don't see a point in buying a broth that tastes like plain water I could get from the sink. Reduced sodium has less salt than regular broth and still actually tastes like broth. I will not purchase this no sodium broth again.
