Does not sharpen all carpenter pencils as it says on the box. i usually use the orange carpenter pencils from home depot and they do not fit

Better than using a knife but not by much.
I love gadgets. This is that. Its an innovated design; why i bought it to see how it works. Honestly it sharpens carpenter pencils slightly better than using a knife. It was inexpensive so no harm no foul. I prefer mechanical pencils for my job but thought I'd give carpenter pencils another go since i seen this handy sharpener. They are not for me. If you love using carpenter pencils you should give this sharpener a try.

Not worth it
There's no catch for the shavings, so not ideal for kids. But the worst part was that the blade doesn't go all the way to the tip of the pencil, so it ended up having a “bellbottom” shape at the tip, not sharp at all.
