You can alter the recipe on the box easily make it more simple or adjust it to your own needs. I personally like to use canned chicken and not meat . I also add a little cumin. I also add a little cumin and a little minced garlic and minced onion for extra flavor and occasionally it chopped jalapeño. Use chicken broth

My mom has bought this brand of fideo since I was a little girl. She has always used this brand to make Mexican fideo. It's a well trusted brand in our family. Now as an adult I buy it and make Mexican fideo with it. I prefer it to other brands. Great quality, great taste at an excellent price point.

This quantity of vermicelli, 5 ounces, is just right for mixing with one pound of cooked ground chuck, sauteed chopped onion, and one small can of tomato sauce with oregano and other spices, to make three servings. When cooked according to directions, this vermicelli has just the right texture, and the short strands are easier to pick up with a fork than long strands of spaghetti, whether by itself or as part of the mixture that I have described.

I saw a recipe for a pasta salad calling for vermicelli. I soon found out this Vermicelli can go in everything from salads to soups. Great flavor and helps stretch any meal. But I wouldn't put it into chocolate cake if I were you.

I prefer the Mexican brand of vermicelli over this. I had not used this brand before but the Mexican kind used to be $.50 a package, now it's much higher. This is thicker, more like broken up spaghetti. It has not much flavor kind of like cardboard. I used a suggestion on the package that said mix it with butter and Parmesan cheese. I like pasta that way, so I tried it. I probably won't buy this again.

These are NOT thin rice noodles. This is basically broken bits of spaghetti.
