If you are following a diet that makes you omit certain ingredients such as gluten, lactose, and nuts, then this bread is for you. It is certified to be made in a facility that doesn't contain the main allergens. Taste wise, it doesn't have that same tang as regular sourdough, however, it tastes great. Would recommend.
Sure, it's a lot of money for 5 slices of bread, but there is no cure for celiac sprue, so the only relief is to eat gluten free bread and other products. Schar consistently has the best gluten free bread, rolls, pastries, etc. It also has no dairy or egg products, so for vegans with celiac sprue, this is the go-to bread. Tip: store the bread in the freezer til you need it, then for the best taste that's closest to regular bread, microwave it for about 15 seconds.
I recently tried Dr Schär Deli Style Bread and was genuinely impressed. The taste was absolutely delicious—soft, flavorful, and satisfying. It's rare to find gluten-free bread that feels this close to traditional deli-style loaves, but this one nails it. I'll definitely be purchasing more as soon as I run out. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a tasty, gluten-free option that doesn't compromise on texture or flavor!
LOVE this sourdough bread. Slightly warmed or toasted (even lightly) and it's as if it's gluten (almost). Speaking from someone who loves gluten & bread and is married to a chef. Being intolerant and the effects growing as I get older this bread has saved my intestines from unnecessary damage at the expense of wanting a "toast" or sandwich.
I've purchased these gluten free Baguettes many times from the store, I've tried a lot of gluten free baguettes and this is by far the best I've ever had in taste and texture. Giving it a quick heat in the oven per instructions on the package is a must though. Recently I included it in a order that was shipped from Walmart. The 2 baguettes are each in a separate air-filled pack so you can use one at a time. However, in the package that was shipped the the air appeared to have been sucked out, which also collapsed the baguettes. Not sure if this is the fault of walmart or the manufacturer but it ruined the bread.
I love this Schar Deli Gluten Free bread even though you only get a few slices, it makes me think of regular deli rye bread which I used to love. Unfortunately, the bread was moldy. It must have been previously frozen and became molding during shipment. There was moisture inside the package. However, Walmart promptly gave me a refund. It should have been delivered and instead of shipped with non-perishables. I used to buy at Jewel.
Love the brand hate the product. I love all their breads except this one. Bought it and I couldn't even eat it. And I'm a person who eats basically anything. I'm aware of how sourdough bread is made but this gluten-free sourdough bread taste absolutely putrid, rotten and like alcohol. The flavor was so unpalatable I threw it away
This product was not appetizing. The slices were dry, tasteless, crumbled easily, weird smelling, and not worth the price for only FIVE slices. There are better options commercially and I make my own which is quite good for gluten free and smells and tastes delicious. I purchased this "loaf" for convenience but will not again and don't recommend it to others.
The package was full of air and I knew the bread would be dry, but I opened it anyway. Not only was the bread dry, but it was completely stale and hard all the way around the crust of every piece. Completely unusable I still have it. I was going to place another order. You're welcome to pick it up!
While this is normally a very good brand that I use often and buy from Sprouts, this bread was delivered to me on 3/6/2026 with a use by date of 2/3/2026!!! I didn't realize it until after I consumed it. I was thinking to myself this brand is usually so fresh. So I looked at the date and almost got sick. I can't believe I ate a whole sandwich with bread over 30 days old. I'm still upset. There's a reason some suppliers can offer the lowest price ..yuk, yuk and triple yuk. I will never be able to eat a sandwich again...
