I used one of the exercises, Quigong for stress, in a Wellness class. The group, many of whom have breathing problems and/or mobility issues, were able to follow them with little or no modifications. My co-workers were impressed with the exercises enough to order their own DVDs.
I love using the routine in the morning as it wakes up my body gently, stretches my limbs, calms my mind, and gives me energy as I face my day.
I bought 2 of these - one for me and one for my husband who travels for work. We've challenged each other to do it every day. We're on the right path and he loves how easy this is to practice on the road.
This is a wonderful dvd with great AM and PM Tai Chi programs that are not too long and good for beginners. All of the other 3 programs are good too -- they get you to breathe and stretch and twist slowly so that you don't hurt your body. Excellent teachers. Very soothing programs. It really is a great buy and find to have these all on one dvd. I had the AM & PM on another dvd but this one is better because you don't have to listen to the intro every time.
I would recommend this tape to everyone. It is so calming and wonderful. It leaves you feeling invigorated and in control even when things are challenging. I have taken many Chi classes and this is a real and effective group of classes. I would especially recommend this tape for people who are used to doing very challenging and active tapes but are finding because of injury or time constraints they are having troubles. In addition, with repeated use, chi has wonderful health benefits that trump most forms of exercise. Also, your foot doctor and physical therapist will say yes to this one! Enjoy!
I will highly recommend this DVD to whoever is interested in practicing Qigong. Each section is easy to follow in a calming and energizing rhythm. After following the DVD for few times, I practice either Qigong Stress Relief or Energy Chi during breaks at work. It replenishes my energy and makes 12 hours shift a breeze. You will enjoy it.
The 5 Day Fit Chi delivered what it described for the beginning student. It is a well designed DVD that includes the diversity of instruction, instructors, and purpose that helped me to understand foundation practices. The artistic merit was well thought out and inspires one's imagination to engage. The choices of AM. , PM., cleansing, and relaxing make it a "go-to" on a daily basis.
I am a big fan of David-Dorian Ross he has such an easy teaching manner. And like David says "A.M. T'ai Chi is just a great way to start the day!" And P.M. T'ai Chi is a great way to wind down at the end of the day. The 'Stress Relief And Detox portions of the dvd are techniques that really help in a unique fashion to confront the many pressures of living in the 21st.high tech fast paced century by healing yourself from the inside out.
I bought the Five Day Fit Chi DVD (Item# 05-55197), and am angry that I have spent money on a DVD that Gaiam is advertising on. One is unable to go to the disk menu until after listening for 1:40 minutes of a commercial. Very upsetting! Right when I'm ready get started, the commercial comes on. However, after the commercial is over, the actual tai chi is good.
This is not my first experience with Tai Chi, Chen or Yang style, but I stopped for a few years and was excited for a refresher. If you are hospitalized, injured, or experience mobility challenges than this might be useful. Otherwise, forget it. I threw it in the trash immediately after reviewing it. If you want to learn Tai Chi or Qi Gong, stop immediately and get something else. "Watered down" falls short as a description for what they are attempting to pass off as Tai Chi.
