I will put it up on my shelf till the time comes to need this. I've used a similar for many years military grade purchased over 40 years ago. This is similar so it should be okay. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have!!!

Water filter
We are are so happy with our water filters. I have never used one of these but we tried out and it works really well. Now we are all set if the water grid goes down or when we go camping.

Works well, confusing instructions.
Overall, these do directly filter water, and it tastes good. However, the listing made it look like they would screw into a standard faucet, and they don't. Even if they did, they're too tall to work that way. The instructions are also just confusing. I still have no idea what these (labeled as single use) syringes are for. It works as a straw, not clear it can do anything else. Supposedly it screws onto a coke bottle, if that would be useful for you.

worst item I've used
DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!! I just put sunny delight in a bottle and drank from it like I was drinking contaminated water. Not only did it taste just like sunny delight but it looked and smelled just like it as well. This is the biggest rip-off I've ever delt with. Walmart is fixing to give me my money back or Amazon is going to get my business from now on.
