This is one where the assembly actually adds to rather than detracts from the product rating. Building it is so much of what it's all about. Especially as a parent, since my help is integral to the portion of the ownership experience in the beginning. Once it's put together, who needs a parent to play with it? That's what brothers are for. I would say that putting it together was comparable to a Lego set in difficulty. Maybe these instructions were a bit harder to follow. But conceptually the same thing. In terms of magnitude, I am challenged to think of a Lego set as big as this that I ever worked through. This is an enormous tank when it's finished. There are a LOT of pieces before you get there. I don't think any 6 year old, or too many 12 years olds for that matter, are going to blow through the assembly stage on their own. As I review this, it's not done. We'll continue to plow through it in sessions, and then it'll join the other sets my kids have that they still play with. I will only add that this is much cheaper than a Lego branded set of equal size and complexity. Less involved Lego sets, substantially smaller numbers of pieces, seem to sell at prices that are multiples of the knockoffs. So, this is a smart buy as far as I am concerned.
Gave to my 8 year old boy neighbor and he and his father and mother having a really good time putting this together as a family. Starting to look really good but directions leave a lot to be desired but as a family having fun that is what is important.
The item is as described in the ad. The only issue I have is giving it as a gift because the writing on the box is in Chinese. It was delivered quickly and it was well packaged.
This is great for those who cant afford another brand of blocks. It has great detail %26 directions are good.Reminds a Navy man of ship he has been on. Great color.
I love this. It is a wonderful model and is comparable to the name brand. My only complaint is that the directions are a little hard to follow. It will be a great gift for anyone who likes legos and / or military.
this kit is just as good as the name brand. very complicated, so suggest older children. good quality.
Wow! What a great item. we haven't started putting it together, but hopefully it will keep their attention for a while and off technical devices
Overall this set is every bit as good as the name brand. It will keep my grandson busy for some time. I'm not sure how realistic the recommended age of 6 is to be honest. I think even a 10 year old will need some assistance. The directions are not quite as easy to follow.
This arrived a day early. It is a challenging kit. It would make a wonderful gift. However the shipping damaged the box because it wasnt shipped in an outer box,but a lsble was just slapped on the kit box. This caused damage to the box making it apeat used and old. The jet itself is great. A wonderful way to occupy kids in the summer.
I would give this set 3 out of 5 stars. The quality of the bricks themselves is actually good, but the build was repetitive, frustrating, and just not very fun by the halfway point. The pieces connected well and had good grip. I could not tell much difference between these bricks and name-brand building bricks in terms of feel or clutch strength. The figures were also good quality overall. I think these same bricks could make for a much more enjoyable set if the build were more colorful, varied, or interesting. Unfortunately, this particular build was pretty boring. The bigger issue was the design of the model. Some sections were hard to put together without other parts breaking off, so I had to keep reattaching pieces as I went. That felt more like an engineering or design problem than a problem with the parts themselves. The instructions were decent overall, but there were times when it was hard to tell what was going on because so many of the bricks were the same color. Some steps did not stand out clearly enough on the page, which added to the frustration. The set is an 8-in-1 build, so you can either build the carrier or use the pieces to make several smaller ships and accessories for a small carrier fleet. That is a nice idea, but the main carrier build became dull for me. I also had an issue with the stickers. They were stuck to the manual and bags inside the box, and removing them ripped part of the manual and made several stickers unusable. That was annoying, but the bigger concern is that I could not find a customer service email or phone number. If something more important had been missing, the only clear option seemed to be returning the whole set and reordering it. The smaller figure accessories were mixed. Some were fine, but the tiny parts would be very easy for a child to lose, especially pieces like the small grenade. Overall, the bricks and figures are good quality, but the boring build, awkward model design, sticker issue, and lack of visible customer support keep this at 3 stars for me.
